Absolutely no regrets!! The best thing I've ever done for myself! Had
lapband for just over 2 yrs. with a multitude of problems the entire time.
I've had no problems at all with rny. Lost 110 pounds and have maintained
for 2 1/2 years. Love it, love it!!!!

Not no but heck no. The only regret is that I wasn't smart enough to have
it 5 years sooner.
Every day you wait is a day you will miss out on the best of your life. GO
GET IT DONE>>>You won't regret it when you see yourself 1/2 your
size.

My only regret was not being able to do it on my own no matter how hard I
tried. I regret letting myself get to the point that I had to do surgery.
That said regarding the RNY I don't regret it at all I know it saved my
life and I have had no complication. Given I'm only 3 months out but I feel
better than I have ever felt and I already lost 74 pounds! How can I regret
that?

I agree with Edward's comment, I also wished I could have done it on my
own. The first year was ROUGH, no lie. Also, I sort of wish I could have
done the sleeve, but at the time, my insurance would not pay for it. I
think though the RNY for me was a better solution in the long run, but I am
not too happy about the mal absorption factor of RNY surgery.
Good luck!

I agree with all above. RNY was the best way to go. Of course, I had the
BEST surgeon (Dr. Ben Meir of Cleveland) and I followed all the rules
religiously so I had no problems. I lost 136 pounds over three years ago. I
did gain about 15 lbs back but that was my own fault - I haven't kept up
with my exercising. Let us know how you do. Remember, none of these
surgeries will work unless you do your part too!

Oh my gosh NOOOOOO....best decision I have ever made besides marrying my
husband! I am 7 months and one week out and already lost 118 pounds...with
less than 30 to go to reach goal weight, I have TONS of energy, feel
fabulous and after having TWO Thankgiving meals, still lost 3 pounds in
this week. I do not feel deprived or that I am missing anything. I no
longer crave sweets, eat proteins, fresh veggies and fruits and love that I
have lost so much and feel so GOOD.

Hi, I just had a revision from lap band to rny on 11/15/2010 and wanted to
share some of my experience with you. The good and bad. I knew going into a
revision that I would be at a higher risk of complications. I had surgery
and the next day I had a test done to see if there were any leaks or
strictures. Well low and behold I had a stricture. This ment that I had to
stay in the hospital two extra days due to stricture not allowing me to
consume anything by mouth. On the four day the swelling went down and I was
able to go home and be only on clear liquids. I was at home for 3 days and
had to go back to the hospital. The stricture had closed and I was vomiting
bile from my small intestine. Yuck. The doctor did an emergency upper GI to
open the stricture. After I had the upper GI done I started having chest
and abdoninal pain. Was rushed back to the hospital to find out that
somehow the scope that was used to open the stricture made a tear somewhere
and was causing me pain. So again I was put back into the hospital for 4
days to make sure there was no infection or leak. As of right now It's been
a little over two weeks since I had the rny revision and I do have some
regrets due to all the complications I had. I am feeling better and better
everyday and the weight is starting to fall off so I'm sure in a few weeks
I will have no regrets. But please before you have the revision reserch all
the possible complications. The rny is so different from the lap band and
you will need to be ready for a huge life change.

Yes, I do have regrets on having RYN.. The day after my surgery did an
X-Ray. As I went to stand up, I felt something let go and drop into my
pelvic area. When I mentioned it to him, he laughed at me and proceeded
to blow me away. I was sent home with a low grade fever, purple urine, and
purple fluid coming out of my drainage tube. When I was re-admitted into
the hospital a few days, later, the surgeon told my husband that, if I
didn't get back when I did, I would be dead. He also told my husband that
he thought a stich broke up by my intestines.
It turned that my intestines completely seperated from my stomac, developed
pranceatitis. In the beginning, I collapsed and an emergency trachiotomy
was performed. I was placed live support. For the next 10 months, I spent
time in hospitals and nursing homes for rehab. I've been home for 6 months
and still have residual problems from my surgery ( surgical hernias and
because of my prolong hospital stays, weak muscles in the arms and other
areas
I'm sorry for running on. It's just for all the success stories that you
will hear, you will rarely hear of horror stories.

I had the bypass and now I am so sorry I had it done because I have gained
over 50 lbs back. I had back surgery and am unable to do what I was doing
for exercise. I am an adict to diet Pepsi and most people tell me to stop
but it is not that easy. So before anyone have the surgery make sure you
do your home work.

Yes, to a degree. I had the RYN on 10-18-10. I bled a lot, and on the next
day I had another surgery. The doc said my liver was lacerated. When he
spoke with my son and I after the surgery, he said that the liver was just
fine; not in the way. Discharged a few days later, and ended up in the ER
- bleeding. Admitted for a few days. A nurse asked me why the doc didn't
put in a drain. "I don't know". She went and got an ostomy and
inserted. Blood, blood, blood. 1 1/2 weeks later. Back in hospital after
I couldn't hold down anything. Upper GI done and doc called to tell me
that the anything ingested that went to the new stomach, spilled over to
old stomach. Had to have a stent put down esophagus ....so that the foods,
etc. would go straight down the digestive tract.
Pain in upper quadrant on right side. Tests...
