Question:
weight loss stall
I am 6 months out and only lost 65lbs. I have not lost any weight in three weeks.I eat right and workout. My engery level has always been very low. And it is still low after 65lbs lost. I have to push myself to workout. I dont know what else to do. I have my 6months checkup on Wed. I hope then can tell me what to do to jump start my weight lost. I was 315 day of surgery now I am now 250. I am happy but I want and need more. My goal is to be 185lbs and not losing any weight in three weeks I am not going to get it.Please help. — JANIECEMOM (posted on November 14, 2010)

Hi Julia, 65 pounds in 6 months is wonderful! Congratulations! You don't
say what type of surgery you had, but we are all different and loose at a
different pace. We all also hit plateaus. Your body may need a little
rest. It's tired because it is being used for fuel. You can boost your
energy levels by adding more protein. Your goal should be at least 60
grams per day. This will also help keep you feeling full. Unjury shakes
and Premier shakes (Costco) are good ones. Go back to your post op diet
for a week or so...this will help. Pay attention to what you are eating,
write it down, it helps! Look at how different you look and how your
clothes fit! You have come a long way, baby, and are right on track. Just
keep up the good work, and the weight will start coming off again. Your
Doc will be very pleased with your results at 6 months.

I can only tell you what I did when I lost my weight, I can't tell you what
to do. My Dr and NUT told me not to eat any carbs until I lost 75% of my
weight, I did that. I still do not eat sugar, once in a while I will have
one teaspoon of honey, but as a rule no sugar and I try to have only
complex carbs, such as whole grains.
I also walk daily, I just can't go to the gym, perhaps when I retire I
will.

I had the Roux N Y in April of this year (2010). I have lost 100 pounds but
stalled for the past few weeks. I had an appt with my doctor yesterday and
he said to up my protein intake, drink more water/fluids and no carbs other
then what is found in fresh fruits and veggies..frozen is ok too but
nothing with any sugar added so I am trying that, but I am thrilled to be
down 100 pounds in 7 months.

This question is like so good because I had reached a plateau for 3 weeks.
I am post op on august 19, 2010 and I lost 75 pounds like almost over
night and I was stuck. I thought I had broken something! Darn, I was
mortified~! To go thru this revision and then stop.
Well, this morning I got on the scale and I am 5 more pounds down.
I did increase my activity a bit but not much, maybe it is what kicked the
stoppage out...hmm.
I am glad though. So hang in there and it will start again unless there is
something wrong with the entrance....putting the wrong foods in there.
Good Luck!

WOW!! 100lbs in 7 months.Congrats. I must be doing something wrong.I am
only down 65lbs in 6 months. My doctor got to tell me something tomorrow. I
think i should be close to 100lbs but it just stop on me. I dont want to be
a loser at this like the band was. But the band made me sick and I didnt
lost any well I lost 30lbs in 4 months and gain that back plus more. I am
so worried. I got to up my workout. I dont eat anything to say I am not
down more. Thanks everyone

I had a vsg in june 2010 and started at nearly 130kg since the operation I
steadily lost weight until I was about 102kg - I really really wanted to
get under 100kg for my birthday but no luck - the weight loss just stopped
- now two months on I am 95kg heading down on the scales again.... I
think the body has to adjust - I started exeercising and making a point of
drinking fluids so I am not soooo dehydrated. Dont eat much - dont stretch
what stomach you have - and I m sure the scales will move again soon...
keep us informed .
