Question:
5 weeks from VS I lost only 10 lbs. before 8 day plateau, then steady wt. GAIN ever

first 5 days after surgery I gained 10 lbs. (water I was told)over next month I lost that and 10 lbs of weight. Fifth wk Ive gained 1/2 lb every couple of days!Everybody else reports 30-40-50 lb weight loss first 6 wks after surgery. I'm 68 with bad arthritus. W/o being able to take aleve I 'm not able to walk a whole lot, but I've forced myself to do as much as possible and stick to the diet. Does this surgery just not work well for us older, post hysterectomy women. What can I do to see the wonderful results the others have had?????And when can I start back on aleve?PB    — pbingemann (posted on March 5, 2010)

After having the sleeve, you will never be able to take Aleve again. It is to harsh for your stomach. I had the sleeve in August of 2009, and find that Tylenol works well for me. Try the extra strength gel caps. My doc says that is all that I can take. I am 66 and lost 30 pounds the first three months after surgery, then everything stopped. I have not lost another pound. I, too, have trouble with walking and other exercise. Continue with as much activity as you can, and keep up the good work following the diet. Keep me posted about your progress and good luck!

Are you eating only 3 oz of protein food at a time 4-5 times a day and taking all the vits and minerals you should? Are you keeping away from fluids 1 hour before and after meals? I am 59 with a gastric sleeve. I lost 59 lbs and then, haven't lost anything for a month, now. I have been eating sugar in between meals. I was told to take pain med. with Omeprazole (over the counter) for my stomach and then, there are no problems with my stomach.
