Question:
I want to hear from Lap Band patients about results...
I have my consult with the surgeon next week. I'm considering the Realize Lap-Band. I would really like to hear people's experience with the banding. Was the weight loss too slow? Were there unexpected complications? Opinions on banding? Thank you! — bacon1975 (posted on January 19, 2010)

I had the Realize Band done in November 2008 and it was the best thing I
have ever done. I have lost over 65 lbs in my first year plus what I lost
before surgery and since I am at 95 lbs. You have the support from their
website for 3 years to help. You might lose it as fast as others but losing
it slower keeps it off longer. I have not had any other problems. You do
have trouble eating some things but you learn what you can eat and what you
can't. I hope this helps. I am extreamly happy with mine..... Penny

I had lapband surgery in Dec. 08. I love it and would do it again in a
heartbeat. I lost 82lbs in the first year and only about 4-6lbs since
then. I noticed that I can't eat steak or chicken that is too dry and
bread that is not toasted. That has only come about since I had my last
couple of fills. I have 8.6 cc's in a 10 cc band. I am happy with where I
am at so far. I feel that my 8.6 cc's is just right for me. I haven't had
any problems with the band so far. Goodluck with your consult. tina

I live in Northern NY, had my surgery through Finger Lakes Weight Loss
Center in Auburn, and I had the surgery on 9/23. I am 40 pounds down and
have had NO problems whatsoever, other than eating a little too much
sometimes! LOL I feel wonderful... it's not easy I must warn you. You don't
eat near what you did before. Going out to dinner - you can do it but you
are a 'cheap date' because you don't eat much. Alcohol- I drink a little
wine at dinner when we go out but too much will go right to your head. Some
docs don't want you to drink. You have got to get your protein in -- I love
Unjury and I use it religiously!
I've fallen off, I've gotten confused, but I get on here, or I call my
nutritionist or my Nurse and get my answers. I am so glad I had it done!!!
I wouldn't trade it for the world! If you have any more questions, email
me!

I'm so grateful to everyone who has answered me! I'm excited and I'm
nervous. My biggest problem right now is hunger. I know that already
there is a lot of "mind" hunger going on, so I'm worried about
post op too. Slow loss is okay with me. I have 100 pounds to lose.

I had my lap band done on October 19, 2009. To date, I have lost 83lbs and
feel amazing. I had lost about 23 before surgery and all the rest has come
since surgery. I have not had the first problem. My Doc really was pushing
for me to do the bypass but I knew it was not the right decision for me. I
knew the band was a better option for ME. Some say that you can't lose as
much with the band but I am a firm believer that if you use it as its
intended,as a tool and not a solution I believe anyone can lose weight with
it. I have a ten cc band and only have 3.5cc's in it with these kinds of
results. The only advise I can give you is know you. Know your lifestyle,
be very honest and let that be your deciding factor. I wish you nothing
but smiles in your journey.

Be sure you are OK with slow weight loss. I lose one pound a week.

I lost 113 lbs. Banded 4/19/07. Initial few months are slow due to lack of
restriction. I currently have some reflux@ noc causing some problems but
over all excellent experience I would not take back
