Question:
What is reactive hypoglycemia?
Someone said that it could be the answer for the shakes and hot/cold symptons. Does anyone have any input on these topics? Would love to hear more info on this. Thanks, Tina — Tina B. (posted on December 31, 2009)

This is a condition also known as LOW blood sugar. It results from not
eating properly. I have had it for over twenty years now. The doctors keep
telling me, one of these days you will go into type 2, thank goodness it
hasn't happened yet. And once I have my surgery, that chance will be even
less

Reactive hypoglycemia is a condition that results in low blood sugars after
eating something that raises your blood sugars (typically a simple
carbohydrate like sugar or white rice) significantly. The the pancreas
over-reacts and produces too much insulin for the amount of sugar in the
blood stream which lowers the blood sugar amount way too much which throws
your body into hypoglycemia. I agree, it can certainly account for shaking
and a feeling of hot and cold. If
you feel like this is a case, invest in a glucometer and start testing your
blood sugars at home.

You can also get this feeling if your sugar drops fast. You eat it goes up
and within an hour or so I drops. Again, its from eating the wrong thing. I
also get it if I dont eat in the morning it makes me feel horrible but my
glucose is not always textbook low it can be as low as 70 but my body
produces too much insulin!
