Question:
RNY Surgery

I had rny on 4-23-09. I have lost a total of about 23 lbs. Is it normal for your body to be at a stand still already? I do eat the way I am suppose to and I do not cheat. I also exercise 5 days per week (60 minutes.) I am scared that I am not going to lose anymore weight. Can "that time of the month" contribute to not losing anymore weight?    — cxperr01 (posted on May 27, 2009)

Hi, I also didnt lose at first and it will be a yr on July 1st ...have now lost 118 lbs. Our bodies need to heal first..everything thing comes in time. I was also in a hurry. Let your body heal, drink tons of water and get your protein. You will do great! Best of luck..

I know how you feel, when I had my surgery and I went to my first doctor's appt. (2 wks out)I was upset because I only lost 13 lbs. My doctor explained that everyone loses differently. I was told to just relax and live without thinking about the scale (easier said than done), but it was the best advice ever. Also, just because the scale is not moving does not mean you're not losing weight. Take your measurements and I almost guarantee you will see a difference in your waist measurements. You are probably losing inches without realizing it. Good Luck and hang in there, you are going to love the results in a couple of weeks. I promise!

Don't agonize over it - I know that's easier said than done! I had RNY on August 27, 2008 and lost for the first three weeks. I then hit my first plateau. For about two weeks, I didn't lose a thing. It really messes with your mind because you are already questioning if you did the right thing. It will start coming off again. Your body is just adjusting to the changes. I now look at plateaus as a way for my skin to recuperate so I don't sag as much. It helps with the mental part of plateaus! Good Luck!

I had surgery on 4/9/2009 and went for my first pre-op on 4/22. I lost 17lbs. Since then I have lost another 24lbs as of 5/23/2009. I have not lost anything in the last 5 or 6 days. I think I have hit my first plateau. It is going to be ok. We are in this together. Smile and lots of hugs.

I had my RNY on 4/28/09 and lost 29 pounds in the first two weeks. I was really happy! Now I have hit a stall for the past two weeks....not losing (or gaining) at all. These stalls really mess with your mind! Especially when you start getting the surgery bills ($94,000) in and it feels like you're done losing. I am scared, too, that I am done losing. It doesn't matter what I do!
