I brought a short, warm robe that opens all the way to the bottom and found
that to be the most valuable thing. Nice for walking the halls, which you
should do often. A comfortable (LOOSE) outfit to go home in is important
too. Beyond a toothbrush, hairbrush and whatever toiletries you normally
use, you won't need anything else, and you won't be feeling up to using
stuff like makeup and so forth. Good luck and welcome in advance to a
whole new way of life!

chap stick, pads if your not comfortable with the hospitals(usually bleed
after any surgery)
and deodorant, other than that, whatever you want to make yourself feel
better...

I would pack loose fitting, comfortable clothes that button or snap. Also
books to read or letter writing, journal writing materials. Things you can
do that you might not have time to do such as catch up with friends and
family and so forth. As far as help when you get home, a family member or
friend to help; possibly medical professionals if you have insurance
coverage for it. Good Luck and God Bless,

I just had lap rny on Dec.9. I wore a loose sweatsuit to the hospital and
wore the same outfit home. I packed a robe and nightie but didn't use
either. A hairbrush, chapstick and deoderant were all I needed-the hosp.
supplied toothbrush. I was too sleepy (and drugged?) to read a book-so
didn't bring one.
I took 2 weeks off work right before my Christmas break(I am a teacher) so
I had a total of 4 weeks to recover! I had a friend come and stay with me
the first day I got home and after that I was on my own because I felt good
and have had no complications. I feel I could have gone back to work ina
week to 10 days. Started getting stir crazy!

it totaly depends on what kind of surgery your having a lap band goes home
faster than a RNY. I had a RNY and I took just about everthing that the
other alread mentioned plus my lap top. I keep track of what they feed me
and how much I walked and who was who. Doctor's, nurses, so on for my
scrapbook. I started a new scrap book called, "journey into my new
life" and I made little people to repesent all the dotors and nusces
that help in the surgery and on the floor I was on. Than I went back after
about a week and looked them up and had them sign their doll, it was great
fun and they all loved my book. Keep your mind busy and don't worry about
anything that was a great help to me. GOD BLESS and good luck
