Question:
I am 4 weeks out of RNY, what can I eat in stage 2?
I am about to start the "stage 2" part of my diet in 2 days... and some of the only things they suggested that sounded any good to me were mashed potatoes and refried beans. I am so sick and tired of sweet things... does anyone have any ideas? Im still not allowed to have anything w/ chunks... help! — [Deactivated Member] (posted on December 30, 2008)

I bought the Egg Beaters because it has different flavors. I especially
liked the cheese and chives flavor. For an extra kick I added a bit of
tabasco sauce. Blend up some of the healthy soup. I also seasoned soup
with white pepper. it is a bit more peppery than black. I really craved
spice because i was getting tired of sweet, too.

If your at the soft food stage then your able to consume eggs, yogurt,
cheese, cottage cheese and creamy soups. Every doctor has diferent
specifics, so I would definetly double check with your own.

Scrambled eggs, pureed creamed soups, cream of wheat, and I ate baby food.
It's not too bad with a little "no salt" on it. Good luck.

Try flavoring your mashed potatoes with chicken broth and try cheese grits.
Creme of mushroom soup was good to me then too.

Nichole, I to got very tired of the SWEET stuff. I found a website Nashua
Nutrition that had stuff like hi protein chicken soup and it was great. I
still even though I am 2 years out and down 257 pounds I enjoy a cup of the
hot chicken soup. They have a good variety of high protein items and they
really helped me get over that SWEET protein. Good Luck and Happy New
Year.

I had a lot of luck with scrambled eggs and feta cheese as it has a little
more salt but it has a great taste! Cottage cheese and del monte freestone
peaches lite cut very tiny, I also ate chili believe it or not as a friend
who had RNY told me to try it and I was shocked that it went down so
easily! It has protein and beans and tomatoes and chew it very well! Hope
this little info helps you! Congrats! I am now 15 months out and have
lost 121#'s and still losing! Have a safe and healthy New Year! Lori in

If you would like, e-mail me at [email protected]. I have a nutrition
booklet that I received from my doctor and nutritionist. I have formatted
it into Adobe so that anyone can print it off. It would be best to consult
your own doctor or nutritionist, but my booklet comes from Creighton
University Medical Center in Omaha, NE. I published about this booklet
yesterday and have already e-mailed it out to several people on this
support network.

P.S. Sorry, I just realized that you are RNY, I am Realize Band. You may
have a different way of eating that lapbanders, but I can still send you a
copy, if you like.

Hi ! I agree with everyone's suggestions, tho I also had v-8 juice that I
heated up and added a lil garlic and pepper to. Ate it like a soup, but it
counted as a liquid. I couldn't do the sweet stuff and opted for Unjury
unflavored protein owders and I mixed it in milk, then I added it to water
and now I mix it to flavored water. Unjury.com I can tolerate some
sweetened things now. It depends on the sweetener for me, Splenda seems to
agree with me. Tho I limit the amount I consume to only a drink or two a
day. I also ate soft fish and tuna fish with a lil mayo added, egg salad,
fudgies-no sugar added, baby meat sticks, anything soft I ate it. I didn't
puree it, but many do. Good Luck to you in the new year and God Bless.

Nicole, Check out the Recipe Forum here on OH. It has loads of wonderful
recipes for different foods for all stages. There are alot to look through
but it is really worth it. I got a Black Bean Soup recipe that is
wonderful and you puree it so it works in any stage!!! You can find the
forum under forums then weight loss related and then on recipe forum. Good
luck.

Hi Nicole! My surgery is booked for January 22, in preparation for that, I
did homemade soup, all day yesterday and froze it. I made broccoli,
cauliflower and potatoe soup. All you have to do is blend it up so that you
don't have the chunks in it. I used my "Magic Bullet" (I love
it!). Then I put it in small containers so that I would get two meals out
of each and froze them.
I will say that I have learned a lot from the people on here, especially
the "Ontario forum", where I usually am, and am preparing for the
surgery in advance. I hope that all the advice you recieve helps you out.
Good luck with your weight loss!

Hi, Kim. First, congratulations on moving to stage 2. I bet you never
believed you could get excited about moving on to pureed or soft foods. :)
I agree with what everyone has said, but would let you know that for some
bizarre reason, I couldn't deal with scrambled eggs at that stage and still
must be very careful with them now, almost a year out. They tend to get
"stuck" and they were the first thing I threw up. Go figure. My
very favorite and I still like it today was warming up a can of bean and
bacon soup with about half the water called for till it is fairy hot (but
not boiling) and then adding about half a cup (or more depending on your
taste) of Pace chunky picante sauce. Take that mixture and blend up for a
moment or two till it is no longer chunky and then reheat till it is warm
enough for you to eat. I thought it was wonderful, wonderful....

Congratulations on your surgery! Heres' the recipe that got me through.
Take a couple of ounces of low fat ricotta cheese, mix with one beaten egg,
salt, pepper and garlic powder. Bake at 350 until set all the way through
and top with a couple of tablespoons of low sugar marinara sauce that has
been pureed. Tastes like the inside of a ravioli, it's almost all protein
and nice and soft. You can also add a little hot sauce if your doctor says
it's ok to give it a little zip. Enjoy.
