Question:
8 months out - stuck at 70 lbs
I had RNY and happily lost 70 lbs. Need to lose more! I am stuck for the last 1.5 months. I know I am not eatting the best, wondering if I can take an appetite suppressant? I am excercising a few times a week, and taking in alot of protein, but still always hungry, and I know I am not eatting the best. HELP! I started at 245 now 175! Need to lose more!! Thank you. Hi Denise,
Well, first of all, congrats on your current weight loss! You probably
aren't really stuck. Increasing your exercise and taking up yoga breathing
exercises as a start will help you feel better and lose weight. Also
possibly incorporate some aerobics into your routine. Nothing fancy just
simple aerobics. As for diet just adjust; more fruit and veggies for a
while; less cheese and so forth. Appetite suppressants are alright under
careful physician's supervision but generally not recommended. Good Luck
and God Bless,

Okay, looks like you need a kick in the right direction...You know what the
problem is.....You said it yourself...twice "I know I am not eating
the best"...You gotta eat the best! LOL
You probably just need a little motivation right now and if you could find
a live support group in your area, that might be a great start to keep you
eating right! Sometimes it's as simple as trying some new recipes or
learning to cook if you don't...You can eat AWESOME healthy foods if you
know how to cook! You can make old favorite foods healthier with lower fat,
higher protein and fiber and less sugar and carbs... You don't have to give
up food and taste...You do have to make better choices though...You have
the best weight loss tool you need...Pills and diet fads do not work...We
know this and that's why we have surgery...You have to treat yourself to
good food by learning what amazing choices you have just by trying a few
new recipes...Kick up you exercise...It doesn't have to be much or even
planned...Just walk...stand rather than sit...just move your body. Carbs
make you hungry and give you cravings...You have got to cut back on simple
carbs and sugars. Drink water inbetween meals it truly help keep hunger at
bay...and if you eat mostly protein at 3 main meals a day, you will have
less hunger and cravings! You can do this! Try looking for simple and
awesome recipes at http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/
AND make the BEST choices! Also..Green tea is an appetite depressant as
well as a powerful antioxidant....Might try a nice cup of tea rather than a
pill...Tea comes decaf too

Total wt loss will likely take more than 8 months. I reached my maximum wt
loss at 24 months. During some months you will experience some stalls,
lasting a few days to a few wks. I've tried an energy booster /appetite
suppressant, and they will help you, if you really think yoiu need them.
They are not designed for new post ops--high in B vitamins, but they do
have some caffeine in them. I used them to "reach a goal mark" ,
and they're noted on my profile page. Still practice the "right
things" but these capsules will help with increased hunger or lose of
energy. You can PM me too if you wish. DAVE

Hi Denise,First off, congrats on your weight loss, that is great! I am 13
months out, and I went thru the same thing.
Every couple of months i would plateau for maybe 4 weeks, then all of
sudden I would loose weight again, in oct/nov, I didn't loose weight for
almost 7 weeks, and went to the doc for my yearly check up, he doesn't want
me to loose anymore, because I am right where I should be, but I am now
loosing again. The doc said that you will go periods of loosing than
plateauing, I think that's what maybe happening, plus you need to eat right
abd still follow "the rules" i also went thru period where I did
have some "treats" but I feel really guilty if I did that,
because that is what got me where I was before I had my RNY. So on that
being said, I would first look at your diet, do the high protein, watch
your fats, calories, follow the plan your doc gave you to follow. Your body
also maybe in catch up mode, when we go thru this surgery, everything in
your body has to catch up, that's also what could be happening. I would not
take an appetite suppressent, not unless your doc says so. I had a friend
who
took those suppressents, and ended up in the hospital with
kidney and liver problems. I hope my advice helps!
Good luck! If you need anything just email me! Have a great day! Lisa
