Question:
Denied twice because of BMI dip while doing WW
Has anyone here ever won an appeal when being denied because BMI dipped below 35 during 24 months. When I went to WW it did go down only to go right back up again. I have been denied twice. Any ideas???? — NovemberHope (posted on November 24, 2008)

Get an attorney that specializes in bariatric surgery appeals. Somehow,
when an insurance company gets a well worded letter from an attorney on
their letterhead, things can get overturned. Can't promise anything, wish
you luck.
Best of luck,

My insurance only needed one weight for each YEAR. Just pick the highest
for that year and do not show them the lower ones.

Talk to a lawyer before you go any further, because if you are denied a
third time you can not apply again and then you won't be able to have the
surgery.

Do you have any co morbidities like high blood pressure, GERD (acid
reflux), sleep apnea that you can use for back up. These are considered
life threatening and make sure your doctor notes that it is deemed
medically necessary and keep submitting the paperwork. Best wishes to you.
