Question:
I am exactly two months post-op and have been on a plateau for 2.5 weeks!!!
I had surgery on 7/25 and since then [pre and post op] have lost an amazing 65 pounds which I am so grateful for. However I've been at a stall for the past 2.5 weeks and it's so aggravating. I exercise regularly, is there anything I need to do? Would more protein intake help get this weight off at a decent rate? Is this normal?? — nubiangodess624 (posted on September 26, 2008)

Perhaps staying away from the scale would help. Weighing yourself can be a
roller coaster in itself. Monthly weigh-ins is a great thing. The longer
you stay away, the bigger the number. Our weight goes up and down daily
and that can be our greatest enemy in our weight loss journey.
CONGRATULATIONS on your tremendous victory of 65lbs. Your body will let go
of the rest, just keep your eye on the prize ------and not the scale. :)

WOW!!! You have really lost a lot very fast. I'm sure your body is trying
to adjust, which is completely normal. Stalls come & go often. Just
don't let it discourage you. The weight will start coming off again, just
give your body time to catch up. It thinks you're starving and is trying to
hold on for dear life...so to speak! Congrats & Good Luck!!!

You are doing GREAT!!!! Your body needs that rest and it's taking it no
matter what you do! It has to have these plateaus/stalls/rest...As far as
it is concerned, you are starving and it's trying to save you...Be grateful
for such an awesome machine! If you were in athe desert starving, you'd be
happy your body tries to save you...It just doesn't know that you are doing
all this with a purpose! LOL Stay off the scale and pull out the
measuring tape...You are losing inches that will indeed catch up with the
scale! Give yourself a year! You are sooooo on your way to being thin! I
wish you continued great success!

My surgeon told me, up front, that I could expect to go through plateaus
ever so often. It is our bodies way of adjusting and trying to hold onto
the fat it has been losing. The weight will begin to drop again soon. Hang
in there and know it is normal.
