Question:
have you been able to lose any weight during the Christmas Holiday Carol Heine
I have found out it is very heard for me to say no to all the good desserts. How did you do ? Carol heine — just-ducky (posted on December 27, 2007)

Well i surprised myself for sure. i weighed myself on mon am and again
today, i lost 2.5 pounds. I really wasn't tempted by the desserts, and
believe me, my sister is known as the dessert queen. She came in with 10
different dessert trays filled with all kinds of chocolate goodies.

I maintained my weight at 204, but I'm 18 months post op. I had limited
desserts, in small portions. I went to my moms for Xmas day, and she is
diabetic. So pies were sugarless

I did quite well. I had a few things, but that was about it. I stepped up
my exercise and watched my caloric intake the rest of the week. I have
cravings for sweets during the week of my menstral cycle and that was
during Christmas UGH, so I did not ignore my cravings but kept things to a
minimum.

Yes, I did have a few things during the holidays. A sliver of pie
(literally a sliver, like 1"x2") sugar cookie, small slice of
pumpkin roll. Granted NOT all on the same day. :) I didn't lose any the
past week, but I weight today and had lost 1.5 lbs so I was happy about
that since I felt like I was eating all the time the past week or so. Good
luck!

Carol it will always be hard to say no to something that tempts us. The
choice is your and so is the consequence. It is worth the fight to say no,
but the choice is yours. It never gets any easier. No is a good answer
though Carol, and you can do it. You may not have done it the other day,
but you can today! That is what counts. Patricia P.

My partner and I are doing low carb.
We have made our own dessert/s to bring and share with others at whatever
gatherings we are at. You can make great cheese cake using cream cheese,
splenda, flavoring (other stuff too).... add some chocolate to make things
even more tasty. Instead of a flour based crust, we use finely ground up
almonds or cashews.
We also made various flavors of merrigue (sp? egg whites) cookies.
I made homemade egg nog using cream, unsweetened soy or almond milk, eggs,
splenda, and rum flavoring.... oh yeah, can't forget the nutmeg!
Best wishes.
