There is a "usual" amount, but everybody is different and therefore your nutritionist would be the one to calulate your personal postop need. If you don't have a follow-up appointment booked with her you should call the office to book one to discuss your postop diet.

I have not had surgery yet as I am still waiting on the insurance companies decision. My NUT set my protien at 60 grams per day. I think everyone is different depending on how much you weigh. You need to check with yours. Good luck!

All the studies indicate that to maximize early weight loss, you want to try to get close to 80 grams of protein per day-- although many people get closer to 60 grams and still obtain very good results.

My nutritionist stated at least 70 grams per day. Good luck and welcome to the losing side! God bless!

I was told 60-80 grams. In the begining this was hard. I was on protein shakes... 3 oz at a time throughout the day. I was instructed to get 64 oz of water in. This was IMPOSSIBLE in the begining for me. Do your best and get your vitamins in. It gets easier as time goes by.

I had a RNY on 10/22. The nutritionist told me betweetn 60-80 grams per day. It has very difficult to get it to get that amount especially the first few weeks. I am jus tnow finishing blended food. I am weighing all of my food just trying to get my required amount of protein. I have found this part very difficult and I am still not to the point where I know when I am full but don't want to push it. I think I am getting a little over 60 grams per day.

60-75 grams per day and 80-100 oz of fluid per day. Good luck and don't over do it, it will take time to build up to it.

My Surgeon & Nutritionist recommends 65 grams for women & 75 grams for men. If you do allot of exercise or weights, you should up that. Obesity Help trains their Leaders of Support Groups to recommend 100 grams. The very minimal is 40-45 to servive. Not a good choice though. - Judy

Mine is 84 grams a day. I'm 4 months post op and I'm still having trouble eating that much. I lost 75lbs and 10 inches off my waist.

at least 80 grams a day, although my nutritionist said it depends on how much you weigh, you should eat .37 grams protein per lb (ie: .37x250=92.5 grams of protein)
