Question:
Does anyone experience stomachs every morning
I am 6 weeks post op gastric bypass and wake up every morning with a tightness in my stomach that hurts. It usually yakes a couple of hours to subside. Does anyone else experience this and have you talked to your doctor or found anything that helps? Thank you, Shana — shana17 (posted on September 7, 2007)

Robin.... I had some slight tightness, but nothing too major. Drinking
something warm (tea-decaf) was the best thing in the AM for me. It seemed
to stimulate and relax the new pouch in the morning. Good luck.

Our program has the pt wearing a binder over the incision area when walking
and so on, your tightness is probably due to holding the stomach muscles
tight all day and in the evening when you sleep and it makes the abdominal
muscles sore, we have no problems anymore with our pateints because that
binder helps offer support and they do not tense those stomach muscles all
day and night. take a warm bath or shower first thing in a.m. and this will
also help your back, get some exercises you can do for your back while in
the shower, this once again can come from the muscle problem but also from
laying so much and being in a hospital bed for 3 days it took me awhile to
overcome the back discomfort.

I am 9 weeks out and I experience this a little still. I ususally have a
few sips of warm coffee and I feel better. I am sure that it will get
better for you but if it is really painful you will want to contact your
surgeon's office. Good luck.
