I am 6 weeks out and had a simular problem. Mine was over exerciseing. I
also had the side pain and it was on my right side. Mine ended up being a
ripped stomach muscle. Better have it check. Mine is very painful and has
put me out of exercising for 4 weeks. Don't take any chances have it
checked.

Diane, you should have known better hon. Dont lift anything over 10 pounds
until 6 months out. I am a nurse and this is what my doctor told me seeing
I lift patients. So, I was "lite" duty when I returned to work
after 6 weeks out. Call your do0ctor immediately!!! Mickey.......

Possible suggestions for your discomfort will vary depending upon whether
you had your surgery laparoscopically or open. Although ultimately you
should be checked just to be certain, if you had a lap RNY, you really
don't need to limit your lifting or exercise (except to the extent that you
feel lightheaded or tired)-- lifting heavy objects doesn't strain your
intestines or stomach, so you are not really at increased risk for injury
following lap RNY. But, those of us who were obese are much more prone to
hernias (because of the strain we placed on our abdominal muscles), so we
still need to be careful for that reason.

Diane, get it checked out... I lifted my 45 lb daughter up to put her in a
shopping cart at 2 months out and loosened some internal stitches...
burning and very painful in my side for about 3 weeks. Luckily I healed. :)
