Hi Missy,
First, what have you tried and did not like so far? Second, my personal
recommendations are the muscle milk brand protein shakes. However, check
the labels carefully b/c some are high carb. I also like the spirulina
protein powder.
Check out the recipes forum, as well for more ideas. If you are interested
in high protein foods try cottage cheese, low fat peanut butter, low fat
provolone cheese, turkey deli meats and of course the string cheese.
Good luck!

Hi Missy, I love chocolate, so I drink Slim-Fast Low Carb chocolate drink
(20g protein & 6g total carbs in an 11oz can). I mix it with chocolate
body fortress whey protein powder that I buy at wal-mart (20g of protein
& 2 total carbs per scoope). Get it nice & cold & it tastes
like a chocolate shake....Eve

(sorry - hit the send button too soon! LOL) My favorite Revival Soy shake
are Cappucino Comfort and Strawberry Smile. And when you get to the point
where you can eat solid foods, their soy protein chips are great for easing
that crunchy-salt craving. Check out the products at www.revivalsoy.com.
Best of luck! Dawn H. Lap RNY 4/11/03 296/204/(on my way to 165!)

Hi... love questions like this, because it gives me things to try too. I
bought the Atkins shakes, but before you say ... yuck, I have tried that
one.... I dress it up... I add some crushed ice, the shake, some flavoring
extracts (lots to choose from) start with a couple of drops - you can
always add more. Then I add my scoop of protein powder (any whey) and
blend away. It comes out really thick and yummy. Oh yeah, almost forgot,
add a package of equal to it too. Hope this helps....

HI Missy
The best out there is Champion Whey Stack Protein Choc or
Vanilla there is also a banana screem * cookies & cream You can buy
samples from vitalady.com stay away from the ready made protein as too much
sugar. Slim fast has too many carbs & sugar. WLS folk must stick to a
WHEY protein as we
wown't digest other type protein. There is a lot out there so get some
samples so you don't end up throwing away money
Some Doc's don't believe in them, but they are necessary &
even more so after the honeymoon period is over & that hunger comes
back. Good Luck Marilyn, the Bearlady

Hi Missy. I think the trick is to add lots of things and make it your own.
Right after surgery I used ISOPURE creamy vanilla, and added lowfat/low
sugar strawberry yogurt and a few fresh or frozen strawberrie. Milk and
ice in blender and you have a yummy smoothie! I like the protein shakes
from bariatriceating.com and they sell samples. Try mixing things with the
powder. It really does help. ~christi

www.vitalady.com has great products and the business is run by two very
successful long term post-ops. Plenty of choices when it comes to protein
powders. She also sells some vitamins/supplements that are a bit tough to
find elsewhere. Good luck to you!

Please refer to my review of a protein whey product I like quite a bit at
<http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/nutrition/nutritional+product+detail+PerfectR+Zero+Carb+Isopure+mgk.html>.
I like to mix it with regular (not low sugar) cranberry juice or skim milk
with Splenda added for taste. Use two scoops of the powder blended into
about 12 oz. of liquid. Use a good blender rather than shaking; that really
makes a difference in taste to me. This will give you 50 grams of protein
whey isolate per day. I like the valilla flavored variety but it comes in
chocolate and other flavors. I hope you like this but you may not since
everyone is different when it comes to what tastes good. Don't forget that
you can sprinkle protein powder on your other foods too, e.g., your
breakfast cereal.

I have problems with protein supplements as well. Most taste just awful.
However, I did find something I really like from GNC, and it is the Zero
Carb Isopure Drink. It's a 20 oz. bottle and has 40 grams of protein in it.
It comes in several different flavors, Blue raspberry, orange, grape,
alpine punch, apple melon, mango peach, pineapple orange banana. To me,
it's almost like drinking kool-aid. It doesn't leave a nasty after taste
like most protein powders and mixes. Now I drink one of these daily. I am
able to get 95-110 grams total of protein in a day from eating and drinking
just one bottle of these. Good luck!

If yu have GNC store near you they have have their own line of products
called ProPerformance. Get the Liquid Protein and mix it in some sugar free
fruit punch (about 12 oz). Tastes like regular punch to me and my
nonsurgical friends. Its 18 grams per serving of protein and low carbs to.

I have found that Unjury is the best. It has 20 grams of Protein per
serving. It is medical grade Protein. I use a lot of the unflavored
because once it is mixed, you cannot tell it is there. I am 3 1/2 years
out and find that I can put 1 scoop of the unflavored on my cereal and then
add Hood Carb Countdown Milk to get 28 + grams of protein. Another thing I
do is to mix the chocolate (1 scoop) with 1 glass (6-8 oz) of the milk and
a little bit of Slim Sweet and beet with mixer. It is a very good milk
shake. (also has 28 g protein).

I like a drink called Perfectly Protein by BoltHouse Farms. I found it at
Wal-Mart (and other grocers walmart being the cheapest) in the cold produce
section. There is a Cream colored one that is Vanilla Chai Tea (mind you I
HATE tea, but love this drink) and there is another one that is Mocha
something, I HATE coffee so wont even try that one. Good luck in your
search. Anne-Marie

What works the best for me is Profect because I can get 25 grams in less
than 3 oz. I always carry at least 2 of them in my purse I can have my
protein anytime, anywhere. Right after my surgery, Profect was the only
protein drink that I could get down without irritating my pouch.

I was exactly where you are. I couldn't stand the protein drinks AT ALL.
Unfortunatly I can't tolerate the food intake either then finally I
discovered the perfect protein drink. I use the Designer chocolate protein
powder I purchased at Publix but Im sure it is sold else where also. Anyway
I take 12oz of 2% milk I use 2% because I just couldn't stand the skim milk
Add 2 scoops protein powder (each 23grams of protein for a total f 46gr )
To the milk I add 2-3tsp of Hersheys sugar free chocolate syrup and shake
well. You can drink it cold but since it is getting colder I actually heat
it in microwave 1min and drink it as hotchocolate. You can also add 1tsp
sugar free cool whip to make it a little creamer. This is AWESOME it taste
like a really good hot cocoa. Of course you have to divide it into 3 drink
sessions but I promise you this is the very best I have tasted. It's more
of a treat than a chore to drink my protein now. Best of luck to you!
