Question:
I was quoted 35 to 40k for a roux-n-y procedure (ouch) Is this correct?
I was quoted 35 to 40K for having a Roux-N-Y procedure with a 4 day hospital stay. This includes ALL fees including hospital pretesting, surgery, and all follow-up visits. A national treatment center quoted the above. It seems very high to me. Would you nice folks provide some cost data as the quote is making me feel like I might be taken advantage of. Thanks in advance.... Bill — WILLIAM G. (posted on August 27, 2000)

WOW! That sounds really high. I've heard from $15,000 to $19,000.
Actually, I think there are some sites on here that has prices. Sorry, I
just don't know where.

I had my surgery at UC Davis , A teaching facility in sacramento, they
billed my insurance right at 86,000.00 total, everything. It all depends
were your at and what insurance you have, or if your self pay I understand
you can get it cheaper.

Hi Bill,
My open RNY with gallbladder removal cost just at $25,000 but my surgeon
(Dr. Yazrebi in Jacksonville, FL) only has us stay one night in the
hospital so the figure you were quoted was probably correct. The good news
is that I figure I am already saving a cuple of hundred dollars a month in
drive-thru and groceries, the bad news is I am spending all that food money
on smaller clothes!
I hope this helps soe and Good Luck!

All costs associated with my RNY operation cost right at $30K. The total
billed to my insurance company from the first consultation totals about
$50K. I had an endoscopy pre-op and one post-op, and these costs are
included. I'm probably a little more expensive than others because it was
a revisional surgery. Hope this helps.

Hi.
Yes it is true that your bill can and will easily reach every bit of
$40,000.00 and possibly more.
I expect mine to be $40,000 if not more. But it is well worth it.

I had the RNY procedure and it cost $39,600.00 and some change. So yes, 35
to 40 is correct. Thank goodness my insurance company covered the
procedure. I am very glad I had the surgery.

I was denied coverage by my insurance co so I did some research & found

My pre-op cost $2,500 and the operation cost $14,000.
You really need to shop around for this! I live on Long Island, and
downstate NY has a lot of doctors and facilities that do these operations.
So, I guess the prices are more competitive. I think that it would be well
worth it for you to pick a place that costs less, even if you need to pay
plane fare and hotel bills! $40,000 is outrageous!
