Question:
I had GBS on 10/25/11 and I have reached a plateau. I went from 205 to 170 .
The scale doesn't seem to want to move-I know that I have not been exercising the way I should--But I barely eat anything because I feel like my pouch has gotten larger and I am terrified that I am gonna gain this weight back..Please help — pumpkin462 (posted on December 29, 2011)

Follow the rules, I know it is scary to eat now I was terrified I would eat
too much too. I had RNY ON MARCH 8,2011. I just went fir a whole month with
no loss and am now loosing again. Down over 125lbs now. I know this will
seem strange but don't be afraid to eat. You may not be eating enough .
Follow the rues, meager, protein first, exercise . Eat more often if you ave
too but do eat! Stay in touch with your NUT! Nutrtionist.
Good luck , you can do this !

Don't be afraid right now. You've lost 35 lbs in 2 months! That's an
incredible amount of weight in a short amount of time. There's two things
that you have to remember. One is you just had major surgery 8 weeks ago
and your body is still healing from that. Your body is still saying WTH
did you do to me? The other is that your body needs to readjust every so
often, It's a fact of life. We all go through periods where we do
everything we're suppose to. Yet, we stall. I know it's hard to get use,
but IT'S NORMAL! You will go through several of these plateaus. Believe
me, we all go through it. It will get better.

Don't worry about the scale too much at first. I had gastric done in Jan 03
and I was the same way..so what I started doing was measuring my body and
every few days when I saw that the scale wasn't moving I remeasured and
could see that I actually had lost inches. It all takes time and I went on
a plateau for several months and was aggrevated also but trust me the
weight will come off. I am 5'3 and started this journey weighing 265 and
am now at 115. There are days now that I ask myself am I going to quit
loosing.

You must eat! If you don't your body will go into starvation mode and it
will not let go of the calories. Your body will want to survive. Also -
exercise. I know it's tough for some people to do (I'm one of them) but do
it! I had RNY five years ago, lost 136 lbs (should have lost 160 lbs)and
now have gained 25 back. It's all because I didn't exercise. I still eat
the right things.

You are doing great! Dont worry. Our bodies are weird creatures, they like
balance and fight to maintain weight, when your body notices you losing a
significant amout of weight it says "woaaahhhhh!" and starts to
fight to maintain where youre at...continue to eat! your plateau will break
sometimes its weeks but it will break. I go through the same thing and i
always remind myself that as long as im eating right the weight will start
to come off again.
