Question:
May need a liver transplant - should I have bypass surgery

Anonymous please. Have cirrhosis due to Hep C. Hepatologist said I shouldn't have WLS because of potential abdominal scarring that might interfere with success of surgery. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with that?    — dc2010 (posted on December 6, 2010)

What does your WLS surgeon say? I'm guessing he/she won't do the surgery.

I have never had problems with my liver but since my wls two months ago my liver enzymes have risen. This is just one of many side effects of wls. I wouldn't suggest having wls until you have recovered from your transplant. Also, I bet you can't find a surgeon willing to do the wls. Good luck to you.
