What does your doctor tell you when you explained your inability to eat? If
you provide a few more details of waht you're experiencing, folks here will
be able to better assist you with suggestions. Does food get stuck when
you swallow? Or is it the thought of eating that makes you not want to
eat?

I drink my protein. I use the unflavored whey protein from GNC and mix it
with Crystal Light. I'm 3 weeks post op and haven't had any problems.
Hope this helps

This surgery Only works if you eat! I know that is what got us here to
begin with. But unless you keep your body fueled it will not burn the fat
as fast. Forget Protein Shakes. They were made for Body Builders to Bulk
up. Protein shakes in my opinion make the weight come back after a few
years, Eat anything you can get down. Eat often and eat small. Small may be
2 tablespoons of cottage cheese or 1/2 cup soup or 1/2 sandwich. just keep
it small and eat at least 6 times a day. After a year out then go up to a
cup of food at a time and still 6 times a day. Do not stretch your pouch by
eating more then a cup of food ever at a time. But the first year. Don't
worry about dieting. This is not a diet. You will not fail this time! The
slower the weight comes off the less skin that will hang. Your body needs
time to catch up. Did I say to eat?? LOL

I have been supplement with protein shakes since my surgery six months ago
and I have lost 103lbs and below my goal. My NUT tells me to supplement
with them because I can't tolerate a lot of protein. Make sure you get one
that is low in sugar and fat, I use Promax from GNC.
You must consume 60 grams of protein dailyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!
Call your NUT up and ask her.

Chocolate Boost has about 300 cal. It tastes good cold too. Hope you feel
better soon.

Add carnation instant breakfast a few times a day with 1% milk, tastes
great and gives you lots of vitamins and protein. Comes in no sugar added.
I sometimes use teh chocolate one, add milk, ice and a banana

Another suggestion my Dietition gave me is, to add beneprotein into any of
your foods it is tastless and dissolves quickly. I add it to protein
shakes to give me more protein if I need it. Walgreens online is the only
place I have been able to find it. Hope this helps.

I second the beneprotein. I could not tolerate the taste or smell of at
least a dozen protein powders I wasted money on. Finally my NUT suggested
making pudding with beneprotein. It has worked. I mix 6 scoops (36 grams)
of protein into two cups fat free milk (16 grams of protein in the milk).
Then I mix the pudding in and refrigerate. I eat 2 - 1/2 cup servings and
they have 13 grams of protein per serving. Between the pudding
"snacks" and my regular food I am finally getting close to 60
grams of protein/day. You can even get creative with the pudding flavors by
adding sugar free torani syrups to them.
