Question:
Wheat Pita for Gastric Bypass
Are gastric bypass patients allowed to eat wheat pitas? I am 8 weeks out and have some and was curious if I could have some. — adamalvarez (posted on February 14, 2010)

I am 10 months out and can tell you that you want to avoid carbs if you
want to lose weight. I did not eat any bread until just recently. You
want to concentrate on your protein and fluids.

I ate wheat tortillas, but so early out I didn't. When I wanted something
like tuna salad, I used ice berg lettuce leaves...rolled tuna up in it.
When I did eat the wraps, It was so small amount that I would make ..say a
turkey wrap and cut a lil wedge out of the middle, gave hubby the rest...It
weighted about 2 ounces. Tasted mighty good tho! Had lettuce and turkey
and cheese and the tortilla. very small amount and I weighed everything
out..still do for the most part, tho I can eye 4 ounces pretty easily these
days. I am 20 months out now. Try to keep carbs to a minimum as they do
make you hungrier and slow weight loss. Best of luck to you on your
journey! hugs, Kim
