It's really hard to say what if anything you are doing wrong when you don't mention what your food intake or anything else is. That is 5lbs a week, doesn't sound too shabby to me! I think you are doing just fine as is!

What makes you believe you are doing anything wrong??? You started at 260 and are now at 225 - That's wonderful!!! Tell us why you think 35 lbs is not enough in 7 weeks. Are you comparing your loss to others'? Are you only looking at the numbers? Stop both of those practices if you are doing that. It is self-destructive and counter-productive! Focus on eating according to your surgeon's guidelines, drink your water, exersize, and stay away from the scale! If you do these things, the weight will come off - you won't be able to prevent it - trust me. I lost more slowly than others but I still lost. Everyone is unique and this surgery will have unique outcomes for everyone because of that.

hi ,,,yes i have friends who claim they lost the same amount of weight as me in 3 weeks as i did in 7 weeks,,, and most have lost 50 lbs in 8 weeks and i'm only at 35 so far,,,but starting to go for walks to try and speed that up,,,could it be due to their ages and they are bigger than me to start off with,,?

Congratulations! 35 lbs in less than 2 motnhs is great! Everyone does not drop the weight quickly..I was a very slow loser in the beginning and then at about 14 weeks it started really coming off...give yourself time. If it takes a year...so what? There is no hurry. Just enjoy the ride! hugs,Kim

People lose weight at different rates, so it is hard to say you are doing anything wrong. When I was 1 month out, I lost 25 lbs. Check my profile. I think it goes down the weight chart. But, it depends on how much weight you have to lose, your activity level and a lot of other things. But, the fact that you are losing is a good sign period. The weight wasn't put on overnight and won't come off overnight. Be sure you are getting your water allowance in. Just a tip.

I had my surgery on August 13, 2009, so far I have lost 47 lbs. I am having a lot of problems with eating protein, but I do have protein shakes daily to supplement the lack of protein. I am older, 58, but I walk daily, or I try to.

Hello, I don't if this helps but I am in the same boat and when I spoke to my surgeon he asked me if my clothes feel different- I said yes- and he told me that some time during the first 12 weeks, sometimes more than once, you lose inches but not weight- he says that they are not too sure why this happens but it has to do with your body adjusting- keep up the good work!

Congrats Cindy on your 35 lb. weight loss! I am 3 wks. out of lap RNY and down 25 lbs. and I sometimes think, gee, weight should be coming off faster because my caloric intake is so much less than prior to surgery but than I praise myself for being down 25 lbs. because if I didn't have surgery I'd probably still be gaining and miserable ! I was weighing myself daily but than I would get discouraged so I only weigh weekly. I can feel some clothes getting looser and some aren't but I figure they are the clothes that were overtight and I was forcing myself to squeeze in them anyway ! I am still fatiqued at times but I'm hoping as my energy level increases and I am more active that the weight and inches will drop without me even realizing it. I'm sure the same will be for you too. So stop thinking you are doing anything wrong and don't focus on the number on your scale. Close your eyes and say, Wow, I've lost 35 lbs.!" Doesn't that make you feel good? I praise you in advance for your continued success and enjoy your journey....
