In my experience, if I ate too much food I felt bad. You will be okay if
you do it but usually I ended up throwing up. In my case, it was my
reminder that I wasn't SUPPOSED to over eat. The small tummy forbids it.
The problem is that your mind is still working with the big belly even
though it isn't there. I know it is scary but you will be okay. If you do
get to feeling really bad afterwards, just go on protein liquids for the
day. It will soothe you tummy down and you will be fine. It is a great
trip, just relax and do what you need to do.

Whether you have a regular stomach, a small stomach, a pouch, a sleeve, you
are full when you are full. If you over eat you feel sick or throw up. So
it does not matter what you have it is what you eat.

You have to keep in mind to eat slower than you're used to. In my
experience I have over eaten a couple times. I only had a bite left so...
and that's all it took. You feel so yucky you make sure you don't do it
agian.

Not really sure that there are too mnay people who haven't overeaten on
occasion...you won't do it often, just a few times is plenty to make you be
fully aware what is going in your mouth...You will be fine, but it will put
a huge cramp in your day when you need to lie down for 3 hours until the
pain and misery subsides...Its a really good tool for nipping theat
behavior in the bud...

Yes, I have eaten too much and was eventually ok after a great deal of
pain, sliming, foaming, retching and vomiting. Had to meet the surgeon at
the office in the middle of the night to get some fluid out of my band when
my stoma was swollen so tight, I could no longer swallow my own saliva.
Great thing about the band. Haven't done it in a long time as I have
learned exactly what my pouch and stoma can handle and am very careful.
Best of luck.

Sure...It's all apart of the "learning how to eat all over again"
process. It's hurts enough that you really don't want to do it again and
fear it! Some people will try to get that "full feeling" but
after surgery it is not a pleasant feeling at all! So you learn to abandon
that old habit...And those that don't, over eat and can stretch their
pouches over time and gain weight back...It usually takes a lot of abusive
eating to get there though. It takes as much effort to sabotage your eating
as it does to follow the rules if you ask me! But yes...I have over eaten
and after being in severe pain...I don't do it intentionally. The times I
have over eaten, I am distracted or eating buffet style where I am not
watching my portions (putting all of my meal on the plate at once to get a
cvisual of what I can eat...or eating directly out of a package without
measuring portion size))...I have had to go vomit once or twice from over
eating, Only after some years you have to do it as soon as you realise you
have over eaten or the food will not come back up as it already dumps into
your bowel and you have to sit thru the pain which can last hours! It's
hard for me to imagine how anyone can do that regularly...but some do!
Stretching your pouch can hurt for days too...kinda like a pulled
muscle...I try hard not to ever feel "full"...Even when I only
feel a little full,I know I over ate!

I am post-op from March 9th. and just started on soft foods yesterday. In
my 3rd meal (only my 3rd!) I ate too fast. Luckily I didn't get sick but I
got the "don't take that next bite" warning from my stomach. I
decided that being at work sure wasn't a time to not listen to that warning
so I set the spoon down and backed away from the plate. It was easy
following the no liquids for an hour after eating as I couldn't imagine
putting anything in there. I was fine but I pushed it close and it is kinda
scary. Kevin

I agree 100% with Kevin's post about not taking that next bite. That's
what happens to me now 7 months out from surgery. My stomach now says
"don't take another bite" and I definitely listen to it. It I
don't I feel sickly, the saliva starts coming up and I know I went too far.
You will learn to listen to your body. Good luck!

I have ate to much food and felt really bad. I felt like I had swallowed a
cow! Actually my pouch started to hurt and that was my key that I had over
eaten. But after I ate I did feel really bad after I had done it but then
it was to late. Now I can eat anything because I had a fill and finally can
to conclusion that it was to tight because I couldn't keep down water and
had to go get it readjusted. But guest what, it haven't been 2 wks and need
a fill again but my doctor is booked until April 23 so I just got to
maintain. As long as I don't gain I will be proud of my self.
