You need a nut who know what you are doing. She can not advise you if she
thinks you should be eating that much. You are eating just about right. the
weight loss is good. Keep it up. Be sure you get enough protien, drink all
your water, and take your vitamins and you will be wonderful in no time.

Yikes, how would your nut know one way or the other if it's too fast if
she's not familiar with WLS? It's going to seem too fast to anyone who's
not informed--believe me, I heard it from family and friends and
co-workers.

I'm 8-1/2 months out and still eat about 800 calories a day, mostly from
protein. You need a nut that know about wls!

I totally agree!! You need a NUT who is familiar with WLS. You are where
you should be. I am two years out Sunday and I only still only eat
900-1,200 a day depending. Find a new NUT.

That is too much for a new post op and even for grads who are maintaining
that could be too much unless they have a good metabolism and work out a
lot. You are doing fine and don't really need a nut to tell you how much
to eat...Just listen to you pouch...Don't eat til you are full...eat til
satisfied. After weight loss stops that's when you really might need a nut
again to work on a maintenance plan...

I think you are on track. I am 6 weeks out and have lost about 32 lbs. My
doctor told me that we are suppose to eat 800-900 calories a day. Well I
am like you, I do good to get in 5-600 a day. I still cannot eat meat, it
makes me sick when I eat it. So pretty much, just yogurt and vegetables
and beansssss....

Hi Shelly,
Congrats on your loss so far!!! Thats awesome. I certainly don't think you
are loosing too fast. Thats the nature of the game it seems most people
loose a lot quickly in the beginning then it tapers. I am about 8 months
out and it has taken me about this long to get up to about 800 calories per
day. If I tried to eat more than that I would end up throwing up cuz it's
just way too much food. I agree with the other posters, try to find a nut
who knows how to develop a plan for WLS patients that will provide you with
the correct nutrients not just a number of calories. Good Luck!

Hi there! You are doing fine. I met with my surgeon at 8 weeks post-op.
He told me that the average is 30-40 lbs. I had lost more than that as you
have and he told me I am on the high end, but not to worry. I also have
more to lose and I think that makes a difference. He also ssid to take
advantage of this rapid weight loss and exercise, exercise, EXERCISE...!
Second point, I agree with the others! It's time to get a new NUT. Have
your surgeon's office recommend one familiar with WLS. I chart my protein,
Calcium and Vita A intake; no need to caculate anyhting else right now says
my NUT. I am not taking enough in to count. I had my Lap RNY 12/9/2008.
Keep up the good work!

I have lost 47 lbs in 9 weeks. There's no way you should be eating 1800
calories a day. I'm eating 850 - 1000 calories a day (too much I think)
yet I'm losing ahead of schedule. I think you are doing fine. I've never
been given a calorie limit, but watch the amount of protein, calcium, fat,
carbs. Take your vitamins and calcium supplements. Exercise. My ultimate
total calorie intake at goal will be 1300 calories per day.

ITA with the others, your NUT is completely clueless. Even on a
"diet" for people withOUT WLS the goal calories is 1200-1500 a
day. If you had the RNY you are right on track and probably struggling to
get that many calories in! BEST WISHES!!!
