Question:
So...Lap band AFTER GPS?
I had GBS 4 years ago and lost nearly 200 pounds. Problem is I need to loose 150 more! I quit loosing weight and have tried to "jump start" my system again with no luck. It seems I am stuck. My surgern is no help, all he says is to see the nutritionist again. I can recite her blasted book by now! I am thinking of getting ther lap band to assit me in the weight lose. Any suggestions? — oldboater (posted on January 15, 2009)

The only way that I know to jump start a weight loss is to take in less
food and burn more calories. A women needs 1,700 just to maintain your
weight. It takes 3,500 calories to add a lb so you do the math and you
will loose weight. You can't do anything else. You may want to write down
everything you put in your mouth. I was shocked to see how many calories I
consumed without even thinking. I don't think Lap Band would help, Weight
Loss Surgery is only a tool, you have to do the work to make "IT"
work. Good luck.

Greg,
Sorry about your frustration. I would find another doctor.
Try some light exercise; just a short walk or some aerobics.
if you want to communicate further; [email protected].
Good Luck and God Bless,

RIght now I am on a 1725 calories a day diet. I was on 1400 a day but had
no energy at all. I write down what I eat, but thanks for the advise.

Have you ever been to the site http://www.5daypouchtest.com/ ? I would try
giving that a whirl and see what happens, maybe it'll help get you out of
this funk. Couldn't hurt anyways :)
Also, how long have you been stuck? It could be a plateau and any day now
you'll drop 5lbs and start right back up losing again. Try to cut out more
carbs and replace it with more protein and start getting in some more
cardio exercise. Good Luck Gregg, it'll get better- gotta think positive!

There's no info about you...so I'm kinda guessing that you were super
morbidly obese...If that's the case, you did so great! Better than many.
Unfortunately, the GB really only helps the MO lose 100 lbs on average
(some more as you did!)...You've doubled that! I am sure you are much
healthier for it too! But if you want to lose more it's gonna be hard work
trying to figure out what you need and then doing it...Before doing another
surgery, you might try/start with "metabolic testing" to see what
your personal calories should be. It measures your Resting Metobolic Rate
(RMR) and your (MAP) aka Exercise Test...I have not had it done and don't
have a ton of info on it...But it's probably the fastest way to figure out
what you need fast! Then from there you'll have to find an exercise to help
you burn excess weight as fuel. Here's a site to show an example of what
it's all about and how much it costs if it's not covered by your
insurance...It's not that expensive and might get you the help you need!
This is a random site I found in Texas with prices for an example of what's
out there! I hope this helps! I know several Post Op grads do this to get
back on track after a big gain years out...It sounds like it's worth a
shot! http://www.getfit2.com/2038518.html

What about a revision surgery? Is that not an option? If your pouch is
stretched, would that help?
Another question: are you working out like a madman? Perhaps you might want
to explore that option.....
Feel free to PM me. I'm new to this but I'm in the SMO category and I'm
wondering how far I'm going to get....
