I had the same problem at about hte same time in my recovery. My hair was
below my shoulders and I had to go to a really short cut because my hair
got so thin that it looked terrible. My doctor told me to increase my
protein intake but that didn't seem to help me. Good luck with finding a
solution to your problem. Sorry I couldn't offer you an instant cure for
your problem.

I am 4 mos post op Lapband surgery and I had that problem until I started
using Biotin Shampoo that I get at my local salon. I get my 60mg of protein
in but its my body adjusting to the change in eating habits. Was told to
use Biotin by my Bariatric Surgeon and its works. It strenghtens the
follicles and you don't lose as much hair and the longer I have used it the
better its getting. Karen in MA

This is a side effect of losing weight...even people without WLS who are
dieting hard can and do lose weight.
About the only thing you can do is make sure you get all your nutrition and
take biotin. I just started the bioting about 6 weeks ago and it seems to
be helpful.
I'm told that the hair loss doesn't last forevr and it will come back.
Good luck.

I am four months post-op (lap band) and am experiencing some hair loss. I
started taking Biotin twice a day and was also told to take a pre-natal
vitamin - even though I'm not (or will be) pregnant - - this was suggested
by a couple of doctors as well as a hair stylist. Since I've been taking
both, I'm not losing as much hair - - plus my nails are growing really
well!

Besides the shampoo try a powerful "liquid" vitamin / mineral
supplement like VEMMA. Hair loss may be due to mineral deficiency. Vemma
makes your hair grow fast as well as nails. Go to www.TrySomeVemma.com

Try Hair Skin and Nails you can get it on the internet. Also have your Dr
check your blood levels for Zinc deficancy. Also they say it stopps
falling out at 6 months.

Time takes care of the hair trouble. Losing weight rapidly is very very
harsh on the body...Keep taking your vits, supps, protein and water and
give it time...It eventually stops...Recently my hair started falling out
again in alarming amounts and sure enough, my labs show my thyroid is outta
whack again! (Have had not thyroid issues since surgery) Just started
back up 4 years later...Since your thyroid regulates you metabolism, i
often wonder if rapid weight loss and the sudden kick in the metabolism is
what causes hair loss...Until your weight loss slows down some and your
body adjusts, you just have to give it time. Do have your thyroid checked
though after a few months when you have labs! Otherwise, it stops falling
out and does grow back...You are not alone...It's almost a given for most
of us to lose hair post op...

I think that at some point, we all have that problem...I had really thick
below the shoulder hair. It got so thin, dull and lifeless, but I was
assured that it was only temporary. I increased my protein and also it was
after I had a trim, that the stylist told me about biotin/biolage that
helped hair with its protein. It was kind of pricey, but you don't need
that much. I am glad to say that my hair is fuller now and has some bounce
back in it after a year out and -120 pounds. Good luck to you!!!

Been there! I lost so much hair betwwen month 3 through month 6 post op
that I thought I may not have none at all. All I can say is it will get
better. I did have to cut my hair shorter, not short and eventuall, it has
all grown back in. I do realize how frustrating it can be, but it does get
better.

Besides all the other good advice, there is Biotin vitamin, 5000 mg that I
take every day that has slowed it down as well. I promise it will get
better. I am 7 months out and it is finally starting to come back in as
well! Good luck and don't panic! It will be over shortly!
