here is the possible side effects listed.
Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur:
changes in vaginal bleeding (e.g., continuous spotting, sudden heavy
bleeding, missed periods), problem wearing contact lenses, dark patches on
the skin (melasma), swelling of the ankles/feet, weight changes (gain or
loss).

It is my understanding (and I could be wrong) that the hormones in the
birth control increase the appetite, not cause actual weight gain itself.
If you find your appetite increases and cannot control yourself with your
tool, talk to your GYN and see if there might be another answer.
Good luck to you,

My doctor would not give to me because of the possibility of weight gain.
Which would be from the increased appetite.

Just a word of caution. My Doctor put me on the Femring which is a HRT or
hormone replacement therepy and because of its direct delivery not only did
I get a toxic dose of estrogen, which made me quite ill. In addition it
wiped out several of my vitamin stores. Because the symptoms were all
diverse it took a while to put them all together and diagnose. Email me
and I can give you a list of the symptoms that I had and what to keep an
eye out for. [email protected] good luck

Femcon is a chewable BCP and it's what my doctor and I selected together. I
did the ring for one month and it just wasn't for me, I was constantly
checking to be sure it was still there. The depo shot was out, it can rob
your calcium stores and the other side effects were nasty too. I wanted
to go back the same pill I did pre RNY but the gyn felt the chewables would
increase effectiveness so here I am. They have a minty tastes so it works,
BUT it's only estimated to be 60% effective after an RNY. Since I was
more concerned about getting my hormones under control it's my best
solution. Condoms are affective and will work well until I pass the year
mark.

I have been using Nuvaring, I started six months prior to my surgery and
continue to use it now three months post off. I have lost 50 pounds since
my surgery so for me no it hasn't caused any weight gain. It is basically
progesterone to prevent you from ovulating. But you have to remember any
form of birth control has the possibility of weight gain.
