Question:
I just want to know whats the difference between a 4cc lapband and a 12cc lapband
will the 12cc allow me to eat more when unfilled than a 4cc and by the 12cc being bigger will it be more likely for it to rub against my stomach and erode — ajanea22 (posted on May 13, 2008)

The doctors decide while the are operating what size of band it also
depends on your weight and height also. You usually dont know until your
follow up check up after sugery.I have a 4 cc band.Sandy Hanson

I was told that the 12 cc band is newer. I have a 10 cc band. The new
bands have less erosion because there is more flexability.

Hi Braje,
My WLS surgeon told me that my band will hold 12 cc's and that men will get
a band that will hold up to 18 cc's but that typically, 4cc's of fluid will
completely close up the opening/hole between both parts of the stomach. I
had my lapband surgery in January 08 and I am currently at 3 cc's. But
there is also a difference in how much your stomach is stretched out before
surgery and how much it shrinks with weight loss. Typically, after
reducing your portion sizes, your stomach will shrink and the band isn't as
effective so there is the need to adjust with an increase in fluid. I get
the impression that everyone has to play it by ear to see what works for
them. Best wishes on your journey. Regina ([email protected])
