Don't be nervous. I had my first appt 8/20 but had learned so much from this site I really couldn't think of any questions. Needless to say My surgeon had covered everything. Just start writting whatever comes to mind down now so when You get there you won't have forgotton. Chances are your surgeon will cover everything anyway. Good luck!!!! and congrats on making the decision to have wls.

I just went to my first appointment an hour ago -- we went over many things, including my surgeon's statistics. you may want to ask what your surgeon's leak percentage is and what he does to prevent blood clots. He may also want you to do a sleep apnea test, you may have questions about that. What I did was go through the web-sites and books that I have and write down anything that I thought I may want to ask. They covered almost everything before it got to my question time. :)

I wouldn't worry about not having questions. Let your doc know you've done some research already, so you have a lot of questions answered already. Maybe ask some questions specific to your doc...what is their specific protocol for approval, how long does it take, what is their success rate, do they have a support group (when & where), what are their dietary requirements pre & post op. Things like that. In the meantime, keep a paper you jot your questions down on as you think of them, so you don't forget to ask them when you get face time with your surgeon down the road. My surgeon has a mandatory 6 month nutrition program. I am at the end of my 6 months, and I have a whole list of questions that I did not have at my first appointment. Good luck with your weight loss journey :)

Don't be nervous. Just be yourself and open and honest and if something springs to mind - then ask. My first consult I saw like 2-3 support staff before seeing the surgeon and they went over (in detail) so much stuff that by the time I saw the surgeon, I was like - hey - howz it going? Looking forward to you cutting me open and rearranging my body parts. You'll do fine. Just keep upbeat, positive and again, if something springs to mind - ask. I didn't ask the surgeon anything either and to date I am 113lbs lighter in just 6 months. Asking questions or not asking questions won't make or break the deal. Good luck.

Be honest and tell him you researched the heck out of it. Also ask him if there is anything that he thinks you should know.
