Hi, I dont have an answer for you, but wanted to share that I too am having the same problem.. thought after a year that it would pick up.. now that I am 133 lbs lighter and recently had a little nip and tuck, went from a size 24/26 to a size 6/8, feel better than ever, wondering why my desire has not returned.. I will check back to see if you get any other responses.. I am considering having my hormone levels checked through my PCP.. I go in for my one year check up on Monday and will be asking that question again.. if I get an answer I'll email you!! Good luck!!!

Hi, personally I am experiencing the opposite! I am down almost 80 lbs and 4 mos post op. In all the research that I did prior to the surgery most folks said their libido climbed. Mine certainly did. At my last checkup last week, my hormone levels were extremely elevated due to the fact that I take synthroid for thyroid and it was way too high for my current weight. It was adjusted to a lower dosage. I have not noticed that my libido has changed, but it has only been a week. The post ahead of me is correct, when you go back for your labs make sure they check that hormone level. But in all seriousness, I believe it is normal to experience an "increase" in sexual desire rather than a decrease, talking to your PCP or surgeon is the thing to do. Good luck in your journey!! Deb

Valarie, I must say that since my RNY I have an increase in my sexual desires. I know that after my surgery I had no drive and also hiding my body. Since my life change I have had an about face change. I have lost 140 pounds as of now and the differance is wonderful. I also think we all go through times when the drive is off balance because of all of the changes our bodies are going through. Give yourself a little time to let things catch up. I know I have had to do that over the last 7 months. Good luck!

Hi! I have lost 106 pounds and was feeling the same way that you do so I went to my doctor and had a hormone level test. It showed post menopausal so I now take 1/2 a pill of Prempro and couldn't believe the difference!!! I can say that seemed to be all it took to get things going again! I wish you the best! Lezlie

I wanted to add to the other posts and say that there are medicines that will decrease your sex drive - are you taking any medications that have this sort of side effect? If so then your PCP can try an alternative medication. Good Luck! Sue

A lot of us at our live support groups experienced this. Theories being that estrogen is stored in fat, bye bye fat and so.... Whatever it is, be sure to have thyroid and BOTH male & female hormones checked with your normal physical. An imbalance can cause cancer, heart disease and of course, the insanity of not being able to figure out WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? Your PCP can usually adjust you back into balance if that is the problem.
