Question:
What did you eat at 6months post op?
I am almost 6 months post-op and had been doing really well on 6 2oz meals a day(which my dr was fine with)....until about a week ago. Now all of a sudden I seem to be hungry all the time...I think part of it is head hunger...but I was just wondering what some of you were eating at 6 months post-op. I'm taking all my vitamins and drinking my water...but maybe it's time for me to change things up a bit.... — mmcphee1 (posted on June 7, 2006)

am asking is how much (portion wise) and how often did you eat at 6 months
post-op. Thanks...

Hi Mary-
By the time I was 6 mos out, I was at a 1/2 cup of food. Some mornings i
was this getting about 2 oz. I ate 6 times a day 3 meals & 3 low
calories snacks. I did feel the same as you and now i have that feeling
again. I'm 11 mos. out today and think i'm up to a cup of food. I will
measure out my food @ a 1/2 cup and still feel hungry. So, i will take a
cup more bits sometimes, than my stomach will get real tight. So, just try
to measure your food and see if you can take them extra bits to a 1/2 cup

At six months out, I ate less than two ounces twice a day, a protein shake,
and as much water as I could, which usually did not reach the recommended
64 ounces. I still have trouble eating much. I eat four ounces of yogurt
in the morning, a couple of ounces of protein in the afternoon, and about
three ounces of vegetable/protein for dinner. Sometimes I have a small
handful of nuts or some cheese in the evening. I still struggle to get
enough water, becuase I get sick if I eat within an hour of drinking or
drink within an hour of eating.

What are you eating? Carbs? How much carbs? You should be eating alot of
protein. Protein, protein, first 60 to 8o gms.

Hi -
My meal plan is different. They have you on an increasing scale every 3
months, but only eating 3 meals a day. At 6 months out, I believe I was
eating 3 - 4oz a meal, 3 times a day. I was also allowed 1 snack of a
fruit or vegetable a day, and 1 protein bar. I always was a bit ahead of
the recommended ounces. I am now 11 months out, down 105 lbs (20 pounds
until goal) and eat about 7 - 8 ounces a meal, 3 times a day. I snack of
fruits and veggies in the afternoon and try to get in a protein bar.
