I had a lap RNY in March. When I progressed from full liquids to soft
foods 3 weeks post-op, I was instructed to take small bites, chew until the
food was liquified or "mushy" before swallowing and to stop
immediately the moment I had a feeling of fullness. I was not instructed
in limiting intake to specific amounts although my understanding was that
the new "pouch" would hold approx. 2 oz. Depending on the
texture and fiber content of the food, there were times that I took in less
than that and times I took in more. I was also firmly instructed at that
time to only eat 3 meals a day and to have no other calorie-containing
intake between meals...just water and other non-caloric liquids. In the
big picture, I think that compliance with those guidelines is probably the
key to "success" with any type of WLS...it's working for me...50
lbs. gone forever. Good luck!
