Question:
Gas pain!
I am just a week out from RNY and having a lot of gas pains where sometimes it takes my breath away. Has anyone had this happen to them. — jammx4 (posted on June 16, 2010)

Yes indeed....very normal for just being a week from surgery. Keep
walking!!!! it helps a lot. It has happened to us all. Gas can be very
painful....

I think this is very common. Simethicone is the only thing that can get rid
of gas. There is a chewable Gas-X that is simethicone. It is also
sometimes available in a generic form.

yes it is common, some tips
try to lay on your left side with your rear end elivated. and the her rip.
LOL. or you could try over the counter gas X strips that you disolve under
your toungue.
also make sure when you eat you take small bites and dont gobble a lot of
air when you drink or swollow food.

You might want to use Gas-x extra . the kind that disolves on your tounge.
you can keep them in your pocket. Remember the per use dose is two strips.
Also Devrom works really well.
Something that really worked to help let the gas out was simply just
sitting on the toilet . To get graphic it opens your butt cheeks and exit
hole to let you pass gas easier. If you lay on your bed on your left side
and bend your knees as high up to your chest and using your hand seperate
your butt cheeks this helps as well. I had gas really horribly for the
first 10 weeks so do most every one. BUt the post surgery gas for the first
mo nth is really bad.
