I would double check with your surgeon or his/her PA. Personally, I don't
see anything wrong with it, but they may have a OTC med that they prefer
you to use instead of Robitussin.

I just went through a brief illness myself, and I am also post op from
11/09/RNY. I called my Dr and the only concern they had for OTC meds was
the sugar and dumping. They recommended I buy diabetic formula robitussin.
Is is sugar free (and N-A-S-T-Y! LOL) but was safer for me. Hope you feel
better!

Even before I had WLS I used herbal teas for colds and was surprised at how
good they worked. There is a brand called Medicinal Herbs in tea bag form.
They had a teabag called "Herbatussin" that worked as does
"Throat Coat". These teas taste good and there is no groggy
feeling afterwards.

I took this fine with no dumping, but I ended up calling my pharmacist
right after swallowing it because my face turned beet red and I felt dizzy
and flushed. She told me it was because I drank it fast and it contains
alcohol! I was fine though, just very tired. So just be aware of the
alcohol content in cold remedies also.
