Question:
I think something is wrong I can eat a lot!

I am 4 months out and feel like I can eat a lot! Like for instance right now I just ate 12 wheat thins and I feel like I could eat more (I won't but still) and the other night I ate a sandwich and didn't feel stuffed! Is something wrong?    — jtaormina (posted on August 6, 2009)

wheat thins turn into dust after you chew them and will NOT make you full. they will go right through your pouch-- just like chips, crackers, pretzels, etc. we should avoid these foods in favor of dense protein. also-- i'm not sure how large your sandwich was but what i would do is measure out the exact amount of food that you should eat and eat only that (and i would probably 86 the bread as well). we have to plan and train ourselves to eat better, not just eat what is in front of us.

Hi.. What has your DR & NUT told you to eat? Bread..pastas are not on my OK list. How much protein have you eaten before you have a starch (like the chips/cracker)or have they given you guidelines to follow? For ME it is protein first, I do my shake in the mornin..and then go from there. It takes time to re-adjust our heads to learn to eat correctly. Do you attend a group in your area? Maybe this would be a good choice for you to get guidance on your food choices. Best of luck

One of my longest plateaus (a three month one) I was eating wheat saltines. Guess I chewed them into a slider food. YeI was stuck at 160 those three months. Yep I was! I am at 115 now. Give up all processed foods. Go all natural, and you will lose weight. Don't munch, snack, or graze. If you do make, it fruit, cottage cheese, cheese, or yogurt. If you can eat more, don't. I still eat on a six in plate at dinner, I'm 20 months out. Good luck and take care of your little pouch!

I know that junk foods do not fill the pouch like protien. They do not help you so avoid them. They are just empty calories. A sandwich would be hrder, just depends on what was in it. Go with lots of meat and cheese light on the veg, then this will not hurt your weight loss. But bread, crackers, chip at four months you should not be eating this type of foods. Not that you can't just that you should not.

I have to agree with Lesleigh. Don't eat it if it comes out of a box...actually try to stick with protein still. I just had my 6 month follow up with nutr. and surgeon and they both told me to focus on the protein and I have been in a plateau for over a month...well actually since getting away from the crackers, I have started losing again..3 lbs in 5 days. So I have to figure they know what they are talking about. You can still try a small bowl of cereal with 1% milk..that fills you up.Snack on nuts...just make sure you portion out your serving and leave it at that. If you think you could still eat more, get up and do something...a chore, a phone call, come to this website anything to get your mind off the fact that you can fit more in your belly. You'll get there...but we still have to be active in our choices and actions.
