Jennie,
The official Medic Alert site is www.medicalert.org You can also order
engravable tags from numerous places. The benefits I see of going through
Medic Alert is that you have information that is readily available by phone
call.

I would highly recomend the real MedicAlert. www.medicalert.org. I have
been a member for a long time and it has saved my life. I am allergic to
sulfa. I was burned severly and when I arrived at the hospital the normal
first treatment is sulfa cream on the burn. I would have killed me. The
medical staff was able to call the phone number on my bracelet and were
given alternative treatment options.

The advantage of joining Medic Alert (the actual organization) is that you
get the bracelet, and they maintain a basic medical record. So if you end
up in Emerg and can't act on your own behalf, Medic Alert will have your
emergency contact names/numbers, the name of your WLS surgeon and so on.
