If it gets to be too uncomfortable throw it up.

Not much you can do but hope it settles. It will either pass through or you
will throw up. Sip, even water. Go slow. This is a big change don't take
risks.

My doctor did not allow any both after the surgery. I drank only clear
liquids. Water, crystal lite, diet snapple, tea. A week after I tried some
sodium-free both and it made me feel like I wanted to throw up. Try not to
throw up because it causes band slippage. Today I cheated with a sundae
from Micky D's. Went down with out a problem. Hey, it's protein too.
Just walk, move around, it should go down. Why so much broth??

There is a reason you are not to gulp or drink but to sip... So you don't
throw up and undo what has been placed in your body until 6 weeks of
healing and so band does not move PLUS THE Stitching to the port.
Did you not listen at classes? This is complete change and commitment way
of life now or why have the surgery done?
Sugar is in the sundae No - sugar- not even diet jello

But think about it...A funnel is narrower at the bottom than at the top, so
it's naturally going to back up if you pour too fast. ;^)

Don't drink like that! I just had a lap band put in. the first few weeks
you need to concentrate on letting the band heal in place. On becoming
secured within your body. So be easy on it. later you can advance to soft
foods and then on. but for right now concentrate on small amounts and
little sips. get the protein drink in and the broth.
i taped a dime up above my kitchen sink. that is the size the food i eat
has to go through. so i look at it and judge what i am putting in.

I'm not sure what your doctor/nutritionist told you, but I am still not to
take in more than 1/2 to 2/3 cup of food/drink at my meal times. 2 cups
seems like way too much to take in at one time. What I feel happened to
you is that taking in 2 cups of liquid in a short amount of time into a
pouch that is only about the size of 4 ounces is that you stretched it to
an uncomfortable size and it will need time to heal. You just had surgery
yesterday and the same day took in too much fluids, it sounds like to me.
Like I said, I am still only suppose to take in about 1/2 to 2/3 cup of
food/liquids at my meals, which are suppose to be every 2 hours with
nothing to drink 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after and I do this 6
times a day. Last Saturday, 02/07/2009, I am 4 months out the Realize
Band, which is similar to the Lap Band.
In regards to Vonnie - I don't mean to sound harsh, but what are you doing
eating a sundae from McDonald's. What kind of protein excuse is that.
Look at all of the fat and sugar that you ingested which is one of the
reason's we are in the place that we are all in. I posted once about
eating a couple of pieces of Russell Stover's Sugar Free Candy and several
people on this site definitely let me know what they thought about that.
Once again, I don't mean to sound so harsh, but you really need to think
before you put every single bite of food into your mouth.

Broth did not agree with me. It did cause bloating and eventually gas.
Ask for other clear liquids or more jello instead. Better still have
someone smuggle in the liquid isopure protein. It will agree with you
better and provide more protein to help you heal. And ask for bottled
water, too. Tap water was awful. You will feel better soon (in a matter
of a few weeks.)
Otherwise you will either spontaneously throw up if you drink too much or
too fast. It is the broth that is causing the bloating though, so don't be
alarmed.

I had my lap band done 2/2/09 & have experienced the same thing as you
have. I have not had a good response to the lap band. The things they
want me to dring & eat I can't, but things you would think would be a
no no seem to satisfy my hunger & nausea. Try to take deep breaths
& I know it's not too polite but try to burp & pass gas as much as
possible. I have lots of pain, bloating, & so on, but the burping
seems to help my bloating more than anything. Good luck & keep calling
your dr. I am going to deal with my surgeon on 2/17/09 because they would
not call me back either. Keep calling, that's what they are there for.
Where is your doctor? Mine is at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville,
