I think that happens because your body is burning fat.

I sure had bad breath, and a highly senstitive sense of smell. Also most things left a sour aftertaste. SF mints can cause gas. I was told to brush my teeth alot. I used alot of mouthwash too. Im 6 weeks outs and most of this has resolved

It is most likely because you are probably in ketosis- burning fat during rapid weight loss. Type ketosis in your search bar and check it out. The other time this can happen is in diabetic ketoacidosis- that is more of a fruity type of breath. Excellent oral hygiene is a must. Brushing and rinsing with Listerine, sugar free mints, etc. Good luck, Dawn Vickers, RN, BLC, CLC

Try a good powerful "liquid" vitamin / mineral supplement like VEMMA. A good combination of "minerals" will help "bad breath" Go to www.TrySomeVemma.com

Have u tried a scraper for your tounge? Can't use a tooth brush that just spreads it around. RX Breath saver has a kit ask your dentist. Rose78

Not only did I have bad breath, but I also had body odor. I knew that these were signs of burning fat. Actually, this was emotionally helpful since I often went weeks without seeing the scale move. I am now over five years post-op, and had lost aproximately 200lbs., and have gained very little back. I would carry sugarfree gum and drink plenty of water to help with dry mouth. If it continues see your dentist. They most likely can assist with this problem. Good luck!!

The bad breath is because of a process called ketosis. It is the body burning fat, and related to a high protein diet. Also, continue to drink, drink, drink your liquids as it will help. If you can't stand it, you may find a natural foods store and ask them for peppermint oil tablets. I found that they help a bit. Plus, it's great for the gut. Good luck! Darlene
