My surgeon will prescribe phentermine for a short period of time (2-3
weeks) when people are really struggling. I didn't think it was good for
long term use.

My opinion is if you have weight loss surgery and your doing what your
supposed to do you shouldnt need diet pills.

Dear Julia,
I think your friend should get off these pills ASAP!!! I was on them
because my MD prescribed it. 30 pills and I was to take them 7 days and
come off for 7 days but when my cardiologist found out he freaked.
Phentermine is known to cause your heart valve to go bad in women. He said
"get off now and no more". Please tell her to get off and follow
the after surgery directions from her surgeon.

Those phentremine and phendimetrazine pills are no good. The weight you
lose from them usually comes back since you cant take them forever. You go
off and on them and your weight yo-yos. PLUS the damage they do to your
heart is not worth the minor weight loss that isn't even a permanent weight
loss. Addiction can be formed. I was prescribed these pills, even though
they knew I had a heart problem! I did take them and lost nothing. When
I stopped taking them, I felt like crap and wanted to take them again just
for the buzz. When I initially started using them, I got a big zing but
after a few days, that faded and they put me to sleep. So they upped my
dosage! The clinic where I got them didn't even check with my cardiologist
like they were supposed to. Needless to say that the heart clinic I go to
flipped out. THESE PILLS ARE DANGEROUS! THE PEOPLE WHO PUSH THEM DON'T
CARE ABOUT THE PATIENTS. THEY JUST WANT TO MAKE MONEY AND DON'T CARE IF
THEY CAUSE PEOPLE TO HAVE HEART PROBLEMS!!!!! Tell your friend to stop
taking them. She had WLS and should not need the pills.

Depends on what you mean by "ok to do."
Is it a healthy way to lose weight? Probably not.
Is it going to kill her? Probably not.
Is it necessary? Probably not.
Is it illegal? Probably not.
