Question:
Lightheaded
I have been drinking 64 oz of water a day. I haven't been able to keep food down some days. I am only 2 1/2 weeks post-op. I try to do my 60 oz of protein either by Isopure or pureed food. I just can't understand feeling this bad. I feel like I could pass-out at anytime. I had bloodwork done in the ER the other Tuesday and it came back okay all except the one that shows I was still at a high risk of a blood clot. I also had a CT scan done of my lungs that night. — Rettawren37 (posted on May 12, 2008)

If you are at high risk for a blood clot it may be that you are still
dehydrated but this is nothing to fool around with. Check with your
doctor. You just started a new life, a blood clot could end it or
seriously hamper it.
PS I hope you meant 60grams of protein not 60 oz. which would be around
71/2 cups. ;)

Surgery take a lot out of a person and rapid weight loss on top of that is
quite a shock to the body...Take it easy on yourself...You might just need
a little rest. You are doing far better than I did getting your water and
protein in that's for certain! I don't think I could get it all in for
nearly a year! Keep up with your vits too! Good for you!!! You should heal
quite fast. It's good you got blood work done. Hopefully you'll begin to
feel better...This spring pollen has made me so sleepy and dizzy...so maybe
it's just allergies for you too? Anyway, I hope you feel better!

Are you checking the sugar content in EVERYTHING? I experienced feeling
this too. It was an awful nausea and lightheadedness. I then realized the
protein drink and milk had too many grams of sugar for me. When I first
had my surgery I couldn't have more than about 4 grams of sugar. Be sure
to read all labels. It is amazing what all has sugar that you would never
even think of. Skim milk has like 11 - 13 grams of sugar in it! Hang in
there! This is a major body adjustment. You knew it wasn't going to be
easy going into it. But the long term results are soooo worth it. Don't
push it. It took me about 7 months until I really felt like all of my
energy was coming back. It has been almost 11 months since my surgery and
I have lost 100 lbs. I only have about 20 more to go. You can do this and
this will pass. Don't get discouraged. I know it is hard not to when you
feel so crappy. You will be so amazed at how much better you will start to
feel soon.
