WOW, What a story. I am so happy u had a baby. Then loosing your baby weight plus. WOW. I can only imagine how u are feeling after gaining weight back. I have not had my surgery yet, my date is July 16th, RNY. What I can tell you is not to be nervous, I have done alot of research for this surgery and all of the odds I honestly can tell you the risk u take is not having it. Yes you have a baby that needs you if you do not have this surgery what might happen? Just know that your Doc knows best for you and you can do this. You are in my prayers. GOD BLESS YOU Tammi httpwwwtammi.com

Sad to say Andrea, that many men and women who decide to have a revision surgery are very unhappy with their results. Revision is not like a first surgery, so be careful with your decision to have it. If you have not dealt with the things that make you run to food and regain the weight that you did, then you have to consider whether or not it is worth the risk to have another surgery when you have not changed your own behaviors about food. It is a dangerous choice. If you have made a lot of changes then it may be of some help, but I have never personally seen it be better than the original surgery. You would really have to fight for your weight loss. I don't want to say it can't be done, but you have to really make good choices to make a revision work. Don't get me wrong, you are worth good health, but only you know you, and you know if what you are doing is hype to get another obese fix, or a fix that will facilitate an obese cure for you. I wish you well, and as you face the truths about yourself I hope you come to a great solution for yourself. Take care. Patricia P.

Because the RNY will give you much greater restriction and malabsorption (at least initially), along with some serious side effects from wrong food choices (the majority of us dump), you will have a much greater ability to make this weight loss surgery work. Although ultimately you will need to work through all the emotional reasons that contributed to your weight re-gain, it is entirely possible that your eating issues were never addressed by a merely restrictive procedure. Therefore, given that the RNY has many advantages over the VBG, and given that there are significant neuro-chemical changes that occur after RNY, you will be better able to make this procedure help you lose your weight.

I am a revision from VBG (19 years ago) to Lap RNY (Dec 06)and I have lost weight my highest weight was 261 presurgery was 233 have lost 76 lbs in 16 months but I never excercised and that was my biggest mistake I am now doing that and the pounds are starting to come off (inches mostly). Its a lot slower being a revision and my doctor said it was because I was a revision BUT the MAIN thing was that I had to face the REAL issues as to why I was running to food for comfort, anger, etc..... when I start to eat slider foods I take one bite and throw the rest away and start to tell myself that its not worth it. I was a size 20 and a tight one at that and am now in sizes 4 & 6 so we can do it. Always remember that revisions are being given a 2nd chance it is a wonderful opportunity because we should have learned from the first failure your health is at stake now don't blow it! I will be turning 55 this year and I feel wonderful and look great. Good luck and feel free to contact me @ [email protected].

I had VBG 10 years ago and it was never really successful for me. I lost about 50 lbs but gained all of that plus some back. In June of 2007 I had open RNY. I have done fabulous. I have now lost about 100 lbs. I need to lose about 20 more to be at my goal. I would have already lost that if I would exercise like I should. Being a mother, teacher and involved in many extracurricular activities life hasn't allowed that. I will be out for summer vacation in 2 weeks and looking forward to having "me" time and get to exercise. I actually enjoy exercising now but just don't get to do it often enough. I would be glad to speak with you more on my struggles and successes. My email is [email protected]. I am so happy I had this done.
