Question:
Is anyone having problems with Acid Reflux after surgery with the lap-band?

I had an adjustment a few weeks ago and have only just starting having problems with Acid Reflux. Any suggestions?    — CT51707 (posted on December 30, 2007)

I suggest to make and apt. with your doctor he might loosen it a little because it may be a little tight.

Yup. I'm 2.5 mos post-op although my surgery was the MGB. Looks like reflux is here to stay. 20mg Prilosec usually does the trick though.

Hi, Be VERY careful with reflux. It corrodes your esophagus. I had LapBand 6 years ago, and EVERY time I got an adjustment, I got horrible reflux. After 6 years, I had to have my Band removed, and had RNY. You may do ok on Nexium etc. and have no problems, but IF you still experience reflux, call you Dr. and get an unfill. Good Luck, Ronda

I have a friend that is a bander, and her band slipped, causing reflux. Check with your doc.

Acid reflux does happen sometimes after an adjustment. I suggest you contact your doctor to discuss. Your body may just be getting adjusted to the adjustment. If that is the case, the doctor can prescribe something for the reflux. My doctor gives me water soluable Prevacid. It works great, although I rarely ever have any reflux or heartburn these days. Oh, I have had my band for 5 years with no adjustments for at least 2 - 21/2 years.
