Question:
sipping fluids
Hi, In order to get plenty of fluids in, my Dr.want us to drink/sip 30cc (1 ounce) of water every 15 mins, for 16 hours each day. Any ideas on how to do this other than wathching a clock for 16 hrs... Shari — Shari O. (posted on June 23, 2007)

I JUST KEEP A LARGE GLASS OF WATER OR ARIZONIA GREEN TEA (WATERED DOWN)
WITH A STRAW AND SIP ON IT ALL DAY. ITS THE ONLY WAY I CAN GET IN ENOUGH
FLUIDS. THE STRAW DOESNT PRESENT ANY PROBLEMS FOR ME. GOOD LUCK

I buy bottled water and keep track of how many bottles I drink. Recently I
have bought a 1 liter bottle of water and make sure I drink at least two a
day. I also use either the Green Teas to Go or Crystal Light to Go to make
drinking the water a little more interesting.

Do not use straws....here is an easy way to get all the water in....fill
little plastic cups (you can get them at baja fresh, wendy's or boston
market - the kind they put ketsup in) with 1 oz of water and sip one every
15 min. OR you can fill up a 4 oz. sippy cup and make sure you finish all
the water in an hour. If you think you cannot drink for 16 hours, try 3/4
c. in 12 hours. The trick is to train yourself to constantly be drinking.
Be careful of green tea or any tea, make sure it is decaffeinated. Add
flavoring to the water if you cannot drink it plain. I like the Water
Sensations or Propel flavoring.

well i never really pay attention to the clock or even measure the
liquid....i just take 3 little sips at a time or til my pouch feels full
and then i take in 3 more sips when the fullness subsides and so
on....don't worry...you'll get used to it....

In the beginning, I played games with myself to get the water in, now it's
pretty much second nature. When I was at work - I would sip every time an
email came in - my computer is set up to check every minute - so when it
would "ring" with a new message, sip. It worked out well. A
friend of mine bought a cheapie watch with timer and set it for every
minute - sip. When I am at home, I carry, hold a water bottle or iced tea,
etc. and sip constantly while watching TV, etc. If I am out and about on
the run - I will take a water bottle with me and sip every time I park, get
out, shop, put something in my cart, check out, etc. Make it a fun game and
after a few weeks or so, it will become second nature. I sip/drink all day
long now and I am hydrated and fine and dandy!
