Question:
Does anyone else dump on hydrocodone, or other pain medications?
I am almost 3 years post-op, and dump on pain medications. I do not dump on sweets, unless it is a sweet drink, which I know to stay away from. — DawnCotton (posted on January 22, 2007)

I don't dump, but I do react much differently to meds now and have to be
very careful. I have trouble sleeping sometimes and used to take Ambien.
I can't now because when I do, I go goofy and act drunk. Then I can't
remember anything that happened the night before when I wake up in the
morning. This happens no matter what kind of dose I take (even if I try
taking just half). Some pain meds do this to me too.

I have chronic pain due to my right knee injury (at work). Because of
certain things, I became totally disabled. I had a total right knee
replacement for mobility, which left me requiring a cane, but the pain is
still there. I take NORCO (hydrocone with tylenol) 4 times a day. The pain
has decreased immensely since surgery, but, somethings will never get
better. Like the osetoarthritis, and the rheumatoid arthritis. I have to
take liquids or crush my pills. I find if I do this 1 hour before a meal,
or 30 mins after a meal I get 99% of the benefits of the meds, and no
dumping problems. I've been doing it long enough now, that I can gear my
day around this and when the weather is warm I usually don't need as many
pain pills.

I dump on pain meds...so I take Tylenol Extra Strength, liquid version.. I
actually had them prescribe that instead of the happy button, after my
hysterectomy. Worked for me.
