Question:
2months post-op and stop losing weight, why?
i had gastric bypass surgery 2 months ago and lost 32pounds. i have stayed at the same weight for 2 weeks, and I am getting worried. I would like to know if this is normal and will i start losing weight again, and has this happened to any one else? Thanks Carmela Fogel , Co — Carmela F. (posted on January 18, 2007)

Carmela, don't worry! Your body is playing catch up. Your body will go
through stages like this. You are doing wonderfully! Congrats on the loss!
If you ready almost everyones profiles you will see everyone goes through
the same thing. You body is in shock and then you will start losing again.

You are doing great. 32lbs in 2 months - great job. Your body is in
shock. It takes time to recover after a lot of weight loss. you will
experience this over the next year or however long you continue to lose
weight. sometimes it will last a few days, sometimes a few weeks and
sometimes it can last a few months. just keep doing what you are supposed
to be doing - getting plenty of water, protein and exercise. try
increaseing your exercise and protein and see if that kick starts it. make
sure you aren't over doing it on carbs. but all in all you are probably
doing fine and the weight will start moving again.
Good luck!

Have you spoken to your nutritionist regarding your diet? Are you entering
your food log on fitday? Maybe you are eating more calories or not
exercising enough. Many people face stalls. Sometimes you lose inches
even tho the scale doesn't cooperate. Hang in there. The weight will come
off.

yes it is normal. you will plateau for awhile. your body is trying to catch
up with the weight loss. you will do that periodically as with any other
diet or exercise regime. hang in there you'll see more results soon.

I know exactly what you mean, I had surgery on November 29, 2006 and I lost
38 pounds and then I came to a stand still and here it is the end of
January and I still am at the same weight. I ask someone else and they
told me that it would start to drop all of a sudden. I am waiting as you
are, I am not eating enough to weigh the same amount, I can hardly eat
anything without being sick!!!! Let me know, if it starts dropping off for
you, and I will let you know if it starts for me.

Your body will stop losing periodically to get used to being less fat.
Make sure you exercise and get your protein and vitamins in.

Carmela,
Don't worry it takes your body time to catch up! I would lose a whole
bunch of weight then stop for up to 4 weeks while body caught up. I had
RNY 12/05.... have lost just shy of 140lbs! Just eat your protein and
drink lots of water!
Happy losing,
Brooke

I had my surgery on 11/6/06. I lost 27 pounds by the first of December and
then stayed the same for about 2 weeks. I then started losing again and
have lost a total of 48 pounds to date. I have been the same weight for
about two weeks now. It seems to happen around "that time of the
month" and the doctor's office said that I am probably retaining water
during that time as well. From all of the posts it sounds like we're both
normal!! Hang in there!!
