Question:
Found out that I have a fistula and 4 ulcers in pouch...

I had an upper GI series about a month ago that showed a fistula (staple line disruption). I was scoped today and the doctor discovered that I have 4 ulcers in my pouch. My question is, if one of the ulcers is what caused the fistula, will the fistula disappear if the ulcer that caused it is healed? Anyone have any experience with this? My appointment with my surgeon to get all of the results is not until July 3rd. I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this.    — Lori B. (posted on June 23, 2003)

an ulcer doesn't cause a fistula or a SLD. And unfortunately once that staple is popped it won't go back in on its own. This will most likely require corrective surgery. I'm very sorry to hear about your trouble!
