Question:
Regular and then Irregular periods?
Has anyone's period been regular the first few months post-op and then suddenly become irregular? Any other period issues? Thanks! — Kim DeHart (posted on May 7, 2003)

This might be related to fast weight loss, loss of body fat, and many other
factors. It's no secret that fat stores estrogen, so when you lose a lot
of fat, you also lose estrogen. This happened to me when I was younger and
lost a lot of weight and became anorexic. My periods actually stopped for
a year until I put on a few pounds. You didn't say how much weight you had
lost, or how quickly it was coming off. Are you at goal or below? Just
some questions you might want to discuss with your OB/GYN.

Yes, mine have. But I'm also at the age for menopause, so it's more likely
that than any effect from my surgery, I'm guessing.

HI...
No suggestions for you...just a comment. I just had a couple of irregular
cycles myself. I am 31 years old and down 90 lbs. I missed a period last
month (not pregnant) and this month has been different also. I thought
this to be strange also. I was going to call the DR. but haven't done so
yet.
