Question:
Does anyone have any post-op pictures of incision site they are willing to share?
My husband has been supportive, but for some reason he is very concerned about this. I don't know why, he won't see it as much as I will and I'm not concerned. Becky Rosenberg had a picture posted of her incision 4 days post-op, but he would like to see the final results. My surgeon is Dr. Eric Schlesinger so anyone who has him as a surgeon and would be willing to share it would be greatly appreciated. Or if anyone would like to tell him to get over himself that would be good too. — Niki G. (posted on June 5, 2000)

Hey Nicole, Yep, tell him to get over himself!!! Why is he so worried about
the scaring? What difference does it make? That is a small thing to think
about when you think about everything else...how bout the fact that this
surgery may keep you living a much longer life which will in turn keep you
around longer for him.

In the overall scheme of things this is what he is worried about? He needs
a hobby !! If you had to have a breast removed (God forbid) would he be
worried about your scar or your health and recovery ? I,m sorry but he
sounds shallow. You are going through one of the most important decisions
of your life and he needs to get a grip. It's not about HIM IT'S ABOUT YOU.
Now tell him to get over it.

Goodmorning,
I do not have a photo... but the scar is hardly noticable. I not only had
the open RNY, but also had a tummy tuck done.
My scar is like a pencil line, there is no discoloration.
Just a note ... I was worried about my scar with my boyfriend, he leaned
over and kissed it,
telling me that he loves my scar, because it was a sign of my courage and
that this scar is
what gave me my life back and made it possible for us to be together.

Here's mine including a video: http://www.mywls.com/SurgeryStory.htm.
Here's one at 3 months: http://www.mywls.com/Postop.htm. At 7 months, it
looks great now, 1/2 way gone. Will post an updated picture soon. The
scar is really nothing to worry about. This surgery saved my life....It's
awesome!

I had to have the surgery twice, because my surgeon did not attach my
intestine completely during the first surgery. My first incision scar was
very thin and looked real good for such a long scar. However, when they
opened me up the second time, they went through the same scar. Now the
incision is wider and not very attractive. My husband does not like the
scar after the second surgery. But, it looks better now because I went to
a tanning salon for one month, (and tanned naked). Now I am so tanned that
you can barely see the scar and it looks MUCH better. I now tan twice a
week, just to keep up the great color it gave me and to keep the scar
non-noticeable.
Good Luck!

One more thing, I also use pure vitamin E oil on it at least twice a day.
I have also been told that pure aloe vera gel works great too,(its best if
you buy a plant and break off the leaves and apply it directly to the
scar).
