What do they mean by "more happy"? For us morbidly obese folks, doing the "happy dance" is a life-threatening activity -- all those rolls, all that gravity! I'm having an open VBG on April 17 (four days and counting), and I'm not openly delirious with joy about it. It's a big (pardon the size pun) step, with many things to think about in the time between now and the surgery. "Happy" is a relative term. If you're at peace with your decision, and you know it's right for you, and you're looking forward to it, that's "happy" enough. Good luck and all good thoughts going your way!

Don't worry about measuring up to your friend's standards of happiness. This is a very big deal, and everyone handles it differently. Celebrate in a way you feel comfortable.

I don't know about anybody else, but when I finally got my date I was very happy, but then reality set in and the fear started creeping in! I think "emotional" might be the term I would use when I got my date:) Either way, it was the best decision I have ever made for myself and I would do it again in a heartbeat! I am 3 months post and down 45 lbs. Good Luck Taquittee!!!

Taquittee - Tell your friend I saw you at the Dr's orientation and you were just as happy as the rest of us!! I don't know about you but my outward joy did die down a notch after he gave the nasal-gastric tube speech, so just tell her - you are ecstatic about the surgery, not quite as excited about the ng tube, the heparin shots, and that goshawful stuff we have to drink the day before surgery!! I PROMISE I'll get your picture up tonight and send you the link!!
