Hi Mindy: After wls you'll want to keep a glass of water with you at all
times, and sip constantly. It's the only way you'll be able to get your
water in at the beginning. And, the more water the better! Good luck.

I agree about the dry mouth. I take meds that do that to me and where ever
I am, I have to have water or other fluids to drink. I hope that I will
still be able to chew gum as that helps too.

The first time I tried sugarfree gum, I got sick as a dog. I will never
try chewing gum again, ever!!

If your diabetic pre op that can make you thirsty all the time. For most
that resolves itself after WLS, and the thirst goes away. You WILL need to
sip sip sip early on to prevent dehydration. My wife chews gum without a
problem. Early on its at risk of getting stuck but liong term I eat things
whole bigger than gum without a problem
